Screenwriting : Optioned and will go into Pre-production after strike by Aram Katz

Optioned and will go into Pre-production after strike

My top award winning screenplay (fifteen awards/selections into film festivals in three years) Clyde and Bear has been optioned and will go into pre-production after the WGA strike is over. Very generous terms of the options (NDA precludes me from saying anything about them) but the producers are very high that this will be a real money maker because of it's characters, messages, and overall appeal to bought its primary audience (children) and adults simply because it doesn't talk down to children nor does it insult an adult's intelligence.

I still want my three award winning period pieces and my award winning horror movie to get done, but step by step I guess in this annoying business run by greedy, sociopathic, talentless executives.

Emily J

Congratulations!!!! This is incredible! How did you connect with the producers?

Aram Katz

Emily. . .Film Festival Top Prize winner for the fourth time.

Bill Albert

Congratulations, Aram. Good for you.

Evelyn Von Warnitz

Congratulations, Aram!

Asmaa Jamil

Congratulations and what a great accomplishment.

Sam Mannetti

Congratulations Aram! Super exciting!

Jim Boston

Aram, congratulations to you with "Clyde and Bear..." and here's wishing you all the VERY BEST!

(By the way...you hit the nail on the head about those executives.)

Dan Guardino

Aram Katz Congrats.

Leonardo Ramirez

Aram Katz Congratulations!

Eon C. Rambally

Aram Katz, wish you the best. Congratulations!

David Kleve

Congratulations.

Martin Reese

That is outstanding news Aram Katz. Good luck to you!

Craig D Griffiths

And they spoke to you the day after the strike ended… wink wink.

Aram Katz

Well, Craig. . .considering the strike isn't over, the past tense of "speak" doesn't seem to work here. But, unlike most people who are cynical misanthropes who like to rain on other people, I give people the benefit of the doubt, and we were in negotiations long before the strike began. But thanks for your turd of wisdom.

Aram Katz

Jai. . .I'm of the school of if you have nothing nice to say, say nothing. . .and treat others as you wish to be treated.

Michael Elliott

Someone removed it...but....Jai it was intended to be harsh and accusatory. Apparently, too much so.

Michael Elliott

No, I have very thick skin. When you get to be my age and have survived everything from war to multiple divorces (a different type of war) things like an online dust up doesn't make a dent.

John Mezes

Awesome Job, Aram! That's fantastic! Wait till it goes into production...that's a whole other kind of gratification! Best of luck to you!

Michael Elliott

There are times I run across people whose statements in my opinion deservedly invite an insult or two.

Dan Guardino

Aram Katz Just a suggestion. If they are a Signatory Company you might want to delete or edit your response to Craig. Also, I believe might have taken what Craig said the wrong way. He has been a member here for eight years and normally doesn't go around raining on someone's parade. What he said didn't really warrant a personal attack.

Dan Guardino

Michael Elliott It is never a good idea to attack someone here.

Craig D Griffiths

Aram Katz I hope you success far beyond your ability to understand humour.

Craig D Griffiths

Dan G. Thank you. I do try to be helpful. But yes. Sometimes a bristle at certain things.

Michael Elliott

Dan...why not?

Aram Katz

Craig D Griffiths Humor doesn't translate well online, especially when you don't know the person writing it. It comes across a bit flip and rude. It's the reason I don't make jokes with people online until they understand my personality and sense of sarcastic, dry, Jewish humor. I still stand by the childhood idea that if you have nothing nice to say, remain silent. I also stand by the Confucian idea of do unto others. . .but that's just me and I know online, behind the safety of a computer screen and cell phone, people can be as rude, flip, and insensitive as possible without having to worry about it coming back in their face.

Craig D Griffiths

Aram Katz I am not a funny guy, ask anyone here. But a “wink” is a fairly universal comedic device. It is also, as I understand it, a device used to show support. Two man standing toe to toe, a fight is about to erupt. One man likes to his friend, his friend winks. I would see that as a “i’ve go your back”.

I am sincerely scratching my head to find a rude aspect to a wink. Sorry for any offence.

Now in staying silent. There are many reasons why I do not subscribe to that idea. Evil only thrives while good people do nothing. Silence can be seen as endorsement.

If you want to see “Bad Craig”, make a negative inference based no race or gender. My favourite people to yell at are fellow privileged white males that think a program to assist under represented people is harming them. But I digress.

I wish you all the success.

Geoff Hall

Aram Katz Congratulations, Aram!

Dan Guardino

Michael Elliott Because this is a people business and how you react and communicate with other people when you don’t agree with them is just as important as your writing.

Maurice Vaughan

Hey, @Aram Katz. Are the producers indie producers from the U.S.?

Ashley Renee Smith

Alright, everyone, this post has gotten a bit off course from its initial intent. For those of you that aren't as familiar with me, I'm the Community Executive and Member Liaison here at Stage 32.

Aram Katz, congratulations on your success. You should absolutely be proud of the accomplishment. I hope that it's a positive and rewarding experience for you at every step.

Moving forward, if anyone would like to express your congratulations or respectfully offer advice/tips on how Aram can navigate a project like this moving forward, please share! Those are the only types of comments that need to be contributed to this conversation.

Here at Stage 32, we work hard to foster a supportive and safe space for all creatives, whether experienced or new to the world of entertainment. When others see your negative comments, especially when it doesn't pertain directly to the original topic, it discourages people from joining the conversation or putting their own thoughts and opinions out there. So let's bring it back in and move forward in a positive and professional manner. If you don't feel that you can do that, then please shift over to another conversation where you can contribute and enjoy engaging with your fellow members.

Remember that we're all here to help one another grow.

Dan Guardino

I offered congrats and free advice so I am more than done on this thread.

Lisa Johnson Mitchell

Congrats! How absolutely fantastic!

Mike Henry

Congrats Aram! Do they know where they're gonna shoot it yet? That's always a good sign in knowing if they're moving forward with the show early, at least from a crew member perspective.
