Filmmaking / Directing : Let's talk about working with writers, scripts, actors and performance. by Mark W. Travis

Let's talk about working with writers, scripts, actors and performance.

I am Mark W. Travis, longtime member of Stage 32, but also longtime absent. I am a director, teacher, coach and consultant in the world of directing and focused heavily on the challenges of working with actors. I would love to start or join a Lounge where the focus is on how we as directors work with writers and actors. The Golden Triangle (writer, director, actor). I am also the author of best-selling books: Directing Feature Films, and The Film Director's Bag of Tricks. I look forward to hearing from all of you.

May I suggest actor/writer/director - Tom Proctor

Debbie Croysdale

@Mark Great idea. Are several reasons I enjoy directing but highest on passion list is being the catalyst in producing a third entity via communication skills with performer. Many facets are at play in mining a character from another person and director's differ in both approach and tactics. Be cool to have a meaty blog on intricacies of subject matter.

Welcome back to Stage 32, Mark W. Travis. You're in the right Lounge to discuss how directors work with writers and actors. Looking forward to your posts!

Debbie Croysdale This is a great idea, Debbie. A "meaty blog" on Working with Actors. One of my favorite subjects as well. How do we get it started? I assume we can't post a blog in a Lounge site. Now I'm considering posting one of my Blogs on how I work with actors in the Blog site. Is that the best way to start the conversation?

Mark W. Travis

Maurice Vaughan If we want to get a Blog discussion going (and if I want to post a Blog) is that all done on the Blog page? See what Debbie Croysdale says above.

Donovan Kundiger are you suggesting that Tom Proctor join this conversation or that we reach out to him?
