It seems to me that audiences are being attracted back to the large screen to see this magnificent film, grim in desaturated colours, with splendid performances from Phoenix and Kirby. An extroadinary portryal fo the rise of a megalomaniac. So what if it takes liberties with fact!!

I haven't seen it yet but heard mixed reviews. Nevertheless, I'm excited to watch it. What'd you think of it?

I thought it was fantastic. It was grim too, in desaturated colour. A fascinating film, superbly acted, Ridley Scott has succeeded where Kubrick failed. Filmed in 62 days, it brings another era to life. Flawed yes, but I’ve seen it twice & it’s amazing how well Scott recreates another era.

I haven't seen it yet. I only heard, Napoleon isn't someone you care about in the movie - not that he was a great guy but most leads, even if a megalomaniac, usually have something that draws you to them. Also heard that of Ferrari. Kind of agree on Ferarri. I look forward to checking Napolean out myself...btw, there's another post here about Napoleon's hat! Seems this movie is bringing forth many a discussion!

I'm looking forward to seeing this movie, @Richard Fitzwilliams. Mainly because I haven't seen a Napoleon movie, Joaquin Phoenix is starring in this movie, and Ridley Scott directed it.

I’m really looking forward to seeing this film & intrigued about the “de saturated colours.” (Uk spelling) Wondering if it’s going to be like Noir or more sepia.

Debbie It’s hard to watch & intentionally so. The visuals reminded me at times of Saving Private Ryan…
