Hey! I met with two people via Zoom (one in the UK, one with RSV) and two in person. The in person meetings were the best, and I think they are really important, because people communicate things physically that you can't really get over Zoom. I didn't meet any Stage 32 peeps, unfortunately.
One person met with me for two hours, which was fantastic. But I will say that most of the people with whom I met said they are getting out of the business possibly. Covid and then the strikes apparently tanked a lot of the smaller production companies (at least from these peoples' perspectives) and streaming services appear to be scaling back. I don't know if that is empirically true, or if that was just the experiences of these particular people.
I think the gist of it was that I should look for a rep. All the meetings were positive, though...I learned a lot. I was not expecting a movie deal or a contract -- I expected insight and info, which I did get, and connections, which I made.
Glad all the meetings were positive and you learned a lot, Laura Preble. Sorry to hear Covid and the strikes tanked a lot of smaller production companies. "Streaming services appear to be scaling back." I've been reading in the trades that streamers are spending a lot of money on projects and as the industry continues to get back on its feet, I think streamers will spend more money.
