Just saw Wim Wender's latest, Perfect Days, last night. Co-written by Wim and Takuma Takasaki, it is a few days in the life of a toilet cleaner. How's THAT for Hollywood glamor! Pretty much violates every rule about screenwriting you ever read: no inciting incident, no third act climax, the secrets referred to are never revealed (the metaphorical equivalent of Chekov's gun never gets fired), and on and on.
In a nutshell I think it was brilliant. Moving, effective, beautifully acted and shot. Curious if anyone else has seen it and what you thought.

Now I wanna see "Perfect Days," Michael A. Levine. I mainly wanna watch it to see how they were able to made a movie without an inciting incident.

I love hearing about a film that seems to break all the rules and yet is still wonderful. I am one of those art-house movie nuts, and I love films that are slow or meditative, and transcendent. Wenders has always been one of my favorite filmmakers. I’m looking forward to seeing Perfect Days.
