FREEDOM FACTS:
Writer Anita Waggoner was born into a rodeo family. She carries forward a western legacy shaped by her grandfather, Leo Moomaw, a rodeo stock contractor and one of the founders of the renowned Omak Stampede and Suicide Race.
In her early twenties after divorcing her childhood sweetheart, Anita left her hometown, Omak, Washington with two young daughters in tow. She moved to Seattle where she attended business college and pursued an education in business law. After college she worked a few years in the automobile industry, and then transitioned into a role as paralegal and law office manager for a successful Seattle law firm.
Anita remained single for thirteen years before remarrying in her early thirties. During her second marriage, she and her husband acquired ownership of several new car dealerships in Washington state. The long-term marriage eventually ended in a lengthy divorce.
It was while going through the tumultuous divorce battle, that Anita met Marvin Nixon, the Freedom, Oklahoma cowboy in Las Vegas. She gave up a lifestyle of luxury when the cowboy convinced her to join him in Freedom where she spent the next thirteen years.
Anita's interesting life story both before and after Freedom is written about in her book and screenplay "Freedom" (soon to be a motion picture). Anita's books are available on Amazon. Stay tuned for more Freedom Facts... the Freedom beat goes on!
