Hi, I'm Geoff. I'm a writer, director and sometimes producer of film. At other times I'm an author along with being a Stage32 Moderator - although perhaps the most immoderate moderator that you'll come across!
I love 1950s sci-fi films, especially the work of George Pal. (War of the Worlds, Destination Moon, When Worlds Collides) How about you? What's your favourite? AND DON'T FORGET TO ADD THE LINK TO THE TRAILER IN YOUR COMMENT.
Here's my choice: https://youtu.be/KcLaMyc4ecE?si=mbin1SahhMmo815h
Happy Introduce Yourself Weekend!

I just looked up 1950s Sci-Fi films, Geoff Hall. I didn't know "The Fly" (1986) is a remake.

Geoff Hall I LOVE that question. Mine is hardly a sci-fi classic, but it was one of my childhood obsessions: "Abbot and Costello Go To Mars" https://youtu.be/5an-EDaw81Q?si=RTH4g_bSJZykn6Bw

Yes, Maurice Vaughan Terror, Horror, Excitement, Mystery - in a word 'Them'! I love these old 1950s trailers. I think the first 30 minutes of this film is probably the best of all sci-fi films of this era. It's a classic, Maurice.

"When Worlds Collide" looks intense, Geoff Hall! The trailer looks incredible! I gotta check out the movie.

Oh my, David Blaustein as a kid I watched so many Abbot and Costello movies. Just watched the trailer. Perhaps Mum and Dad didn't allow me to watch this one. Too many scantily-clad ladies perhaps!

Maurice Vaughan George Pal was a master of the genre, IMO. It's well worth watching WWC, Maurice.
As for Them!, here's another clip. I forget the name of this actor, but I always loved his voice and his manner. And the little girl. What a wonderful talent.

Maurice Vaughan agreed. I may just have to watch the film this weekend, when everyone's fast asleep in bed! Thanks for the prod, Maurice!

So many great and fun sci-fi movies from the 1950's but I always get the biggest kick out of THE BLOB, plus you get a young Steve McQueen! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J-heIT3L9Qg

Ah, Sam Sokolow I have The Blob on BluRay. Loved it, but mostly because it’s a Steve McQueen film.

Yes, Sam Sokolow and Geoff Hall! I had a great time watching THE BLOB for the first time! I've never seen the reboots. The 88 one looks gross.

Dustin Richardson ah, Dustin thank you. Two classics of the genre there. Body Snatchers with Kevin McCarthy’s famous scene. “Help, help. They’re coming! They’re coming!”

If we're going with that era, I'd have to say the Blob (1958). Great 50's sci-fi that left such an impression on me as a kid, and it course gave us the first big role for none other than the King of Cool himself, Steve McQueen!

Pat Alexander hi Pat, yes, another great movie and the opening in the hospital ward, inspired Alex Garland’s writing for the opening of ‘28 Days Later’. Eerie dystopian stuff!
