Screenwriting : Isa by Don Zorbas

Isa

What are your thoughts on this site? Any luck?

Jason Mirch

Hey Don Zorbas - I've worked with the team at ISA in the past. I find that the professionals on the Stage 32 roster are generally stronger and you actually get to work one-on-one with executives, producers, and managers through Stage 32. As I recall with ISA it is just their staff. Feel free to reach out to me at success@stage32.com and I can help set you up with a plan for yourself (without any monthly memberships)

I had one script request and some scripts get considerations a while back, Don Zorbas, but I haven't signed back up for ISAConnect yet. I've just been reading the screenwriting articles on ISA.

Richard Buzzell

Their list of success stories does include some scripts getting produced. Hasn't worked out for me though in the little over a year that I've been a paid member. I'll be sticking with it for a while yet since the cost is almost nothing.

Jim Boston

Don, eight of my projects are in consideration at ISA. (Still got yet to get a "yes," though.)

I'm not only sticking with Stage 32 and Script Revolution, I'm staying with ISA, too. I figured: "You can't have too many irons in the fire."

Maurice Vaughan

Congratulations on the considerations, Jim Boston!

Vikki Harris

I have/ had scripts "In Consideration" but nothing has happened yet.

Maurice Vaughan

Congratulations, Vikki Harris!

Doesn’t allow me to revise profiles?

Travis Seppala

I've been an ISA member for many years. I miss their in-person networking events in los Angeles (stupid covid!). I've been hired for jobs through their twice -- once to ghostwrite a rewrite on a horror script that went on to be produced, once to write a script that sadly has not gone anywhere. I've also made some friends through there (from those live networking events).

Jim Boston

Thanks a bunch, Maurice!

Maurice Vaughan

You're welcome, Jim Boston

Maurice Vaughan

Congratulations on getting hired, Travis Seppala!

Travis Seppala

Maurice Vaughan Thanks. Both those jobs were a few years ago, now, though. :( I need mooooooorrrrrreee!!! lol

Don Zorbas - I'm the Managing Director of Stage 32 and I've proudly overseen this community and site for the last 13 years. I have watched literally thousands of careers get launched through Stage 32 and I have to say it is the most rewarding experience I could have. I was just in Cannes for our 8th annual partnership with the film festival and I was getting stopped constantly on the streets from members of our community who have thanked Stage 32 for changing their lives. In fact, just this year alone 4 films in competition for the Palme d'or at Cannes were produced by Stage 32 members. One of the producers on Paul Schrader's OH CANADA walked the red carpet and I couldn't help but think that same producer helped launch the career of Joe Downey in our community through a pitch session he did for the film he wrote, CHICK FIGHT, which went on to star Malin Akerman and Alec Baldwin and Emma Dumont. Another producer on THE APPRENTICE (up for Palme d'or) Amy Baer paid to option 3 Stage 32 members scripts from our community - an opportunity that we were able to get one of the writers who had actually won the Austin Film Festival and had no traction. Last weekend the co-head of Kevin Hart's company emailed my team saying he's moving up 2 scripts he found through Stage 32 to his team at HartBeat. Every single day the site is rewarding. We always say you get out what you put in. If you're committed , willing to learn the business and willing to put in the work amazing things happen through this platform. We write about the successes all the time on our blog, and our success story page: https://www.stage32.com/scriptservices/success-stories. And, if you don't follow us on social media, make sure you do as we post advice from a lot of the executives we work with on @stage32. Our fearless leader, Richard "RB" Botto is also a working screenwriter and producer who has a original pilot he wrote set up at Amblin - he also posts incredible advice videos at @rbwalksintoabar. So, in summary, my thought on this site are that it's the single best platform that has disrupted the global entertainment industry and has given opportunities to thousands of people around the world to get their work seen and made and I absolutely LOVE IT and everyone in it.

You're welcome, Travis Seppala. Hope you get more work soon! I suggest checking the Job Board on here. It's updated with jobs regularly.

Don Zorbas - it's pretty low cost for all they have to offer for CE, competition, script storage, etc... I use it mostly for the OWAs; but try to have a tight logline that really pops (still learning myself) just like any other pitch site (like VPF).

Travis Seppala

Maurice Vaughan I check it for paid work once a week.

Richard Buzzell

Anyone have any updates on their ISA experience?

Geoff Hall

Amanda Toney that’s awesome, Amanda. It’s such a testimony to Stage32’s presence and efficacy in the industry.

I've gotten a few "in considerations" on assignments that I was later passed on. Their writers showcase is pretty cool, and I've gotten a few reads from that. They give you four or five free contest submissions for the $99 annual price, which is at least an ok value, but tbh I'm considering not renewing my subscription there to try writers room over here instead this January.

First I received plenty of useful comments on my new screenplay, from the person who persuaded me to become a member here. After translation my new screenplay into English, I have received even more useful comments from another member here. I have also sent comments to others. And i have received answers when I have posted questions.
