Introducing myself to those of you who I haven't met yet, but will some day! I am all about taking action and making our own material whether it be films, series, standup specials, podcasts, etc. The only person who can stop us is that person staring back at us when we look in the mirror! I started out doing standup comedy and back then the gatekeepers kept me out. So I switched to writing scripts and trying to sell them. Next step was to make a couple of films. Wrote a book about my experiences called Just Shoot It! and now I am back to preparing to shoot my first of 4 standup comedy specials! Then I am going to shoot a few of my zero-to-low budget features and keep moving forward. Nobody can stop us now. The only gatekeeper is our own mind! Even if I simply put them up on a youtube channel...it is time to make it happen! Let's go! Start now not tomorrow! See you at the movies!
Best wishes,
Curtis

Hello Curtis Kessinger Welcome to Stage 32. I love your mantra, "The only gatekeeper is the one in out own mind." That's right. The only limits are the ones we place on ourselves. I am sure you will do great things. I look forward to seeing them.

Suzanne and Asmaa I look forward to your accomplishments and I know you will reach them. We just need to take one step at a time and keep the daily momentum going. Break that big goal up into smaller daily goals and we can achieve whatever we set out to do.

Well said, really ! Good luck on your path! I would like just to add that discipline is the matter, even more, than the motivation, maybe !

Yes Arevik you are 100% right! Motivation often stops over time and also once we realize what a marathon this business can be. We rarely get instant success so we have to keep setting those daily goals to meet and then analyze them at the end of each day to see how we did. Be ready to adjust our plan. Life often gets in the way of our goals but we keep trudging forward. Find other like-minded people to call us out on our goals/plans so we aren't always going at this alone. Family and friends might not always have our back and support us unless they too believe in what we are doing. Stage 32 is just the place to find others who are fighting the same battles and understand the path we are on.
