Hi all.
So I've just sent that the deadline for The Search for New Blood competition is today.
I have a feature length screenplay that is a Horror/adventure so in theory does fit this criteria. However I wouldn't class it as pure horror. It's more in line with the first series of Stranger Things or Gremlins/Ghostbusters. So not sure if it's worth submitting as I'd imagine they're looking for more darker horror. What do you think?
Thanks in advance,
Peter Butler

I think it's worth you submitting, Peter Butler. Here's what it says on the contest page: "We’re on the lookout for all types of horror scripts—whether it’s a feature or a TV pilot. Classic slasher? Atmospheric thriller? Supernatural scare-fest? We want to see it all!"

Thanks Maurice. Yeah that’s what I thought but just want sure if my script a little ‘mild’ for the target audience

Genre bending is so common today, it's much less important to fit into a strict genre for contests. Great writing always rises to the top!

Thanks all for you support on this. I missed this one out but will definitely be submitting to upcoming events

Stage 32 frequently extends the contest deadlines until the following Monday, so there's still time to submit!

If your script has strong horror elements, it could still be worth submitting! Competitions often look for unique takes within the genre, so your blend of adventure and horror could stand out!

I think you should definitely enter it! The New Blood Contest is open to all sub-genres of horror. I've seen winners range across the spectrum. I vote go for it!

Still time to submit Peter Butler! Was just about to post about the extension! It's very much worth. I was one of the judges for the contest last year and had a great meeting with the writers of the winning script. We still keep in touch, and they've actually had some amazing progress on moving the project forward that I will share soon!
