I feel like I never gave this platform a chance in the past I joined up in 2011 and have been on here sporadically over the last 13 years. But, increasingly with the state of the film business I feel like it's necessary that we look for our allies where our allies are, not where we would like them to be. There is a titanic shift in the film business coming, and it's called decentralization. I'm not talking about the C word, and if you want to hit me up about that sell your snake oil to someone else. I here to talk film business and chew bubble gum... And yes I'm all out of bubble gum. I believe we, the independent film community, are heading toward a regional business model. With distribution becoming a total scam for the indie world, and when I say indie I mean indie, not Neon or A24 they are low budget establishment, they aren't begging their distributors for contractually obligated quarterly reports, that when you receive , are doctored to reflect a negative balance when you know people personally who purchased the movie. That's our reality, and I'm sick of it the same as you. So it's time we start looking at withholding our product and take it to the street. What does this mean? It means we have to get mad first, we have to say I'm a human being god damn it and my work has value! I want you go to you comments section right now and post "I'm broke as hell and I'm not going to take this anymore!". Then we can figure out all the problems with the distribution and the studio imploding, but first we have to admit we've been mistreated, devalued, and gas lit by the distribution companies and sales agents. If you've made a film and you spent money on it, then you are entitled to something for it. So it's time we bypass the shady dealers and go directly to where the movies need to be, the theaters. How? Let's talk, welcome to the revolution.

Some of this new distribution method is outlined in my post in the distro lounge, it's not complicated if Taylor Swift can do it, we can do it.

Daniel J. Pico It's great to see you giving Stage 32 another chance. I find circulating the lounges, finding a conversation you feel comfortable joining in on helps with getting to know people and to bring them into your circle. For sure there seems to be a shift in distribution. With creative media, independent film producers can control their own destiny rather than wait for a studio to pick them up. Looking forward to hearing more from you.
