Welcome Ben. How do you feel your writing is impacted by your neurological type? If you wish to share of course.

Maurice Vaughan Thank you :)

Robert Russo I can come up with settings and plots quite easily, sometimes quite convoluted ones, but i have difficulty with characters

Sharing a bit here. I was writing a pilot a few years back and someone remarked that my characters felt flat. I did some magic mushrooms and while having a moment of deep personal insight and reflection I realized I was a very unemotional person (unless on psychedelics) and so I was approaching each scene without giving too much thought to the emotional state of the characters. I think making a conscious effort to connect with your own feelings and with others is really important. We may not be wired the same as most people, and no 2 people are, but I am sure you're gifted enough to get into that mindset of focusing on the feelings. Scripts need to make us feel things every scene, feel a way about the character, or show us how those characters are feeling, or feel something about the action, etc.

Also on another note, I would suggest you investigate vision rehab therapy for your dyslexia. Often times a neuro-optometrist can prescribe vision therapy to integrate your sensory/vision input better and your dyslexia symptoms may be reduced. You may have vision processing issues that cause your ADHD type symptoms.

I also have tried various supplements to assist in my concentration. Your results may vary. But NAC, Glycine, Saffron, Mucuna Pruriens, and even more supplements may calm the brain down to make it easy to sit still and write and focus for long periods of time. Of course never take anything without doing your due diligence about how it may affect you personally or interact with anything else you are already taking.

Final thoughts. You're very good at world building/plot, so look at becoming better with character as an enjoyable challenge. Everything starts and ends with your characters.
