About Robert

Robert Russo is a USAF veteran, former Oil Field Roughneck, PTSD survivor, former psychedelic integration guide, and Screenwriter. His story “Roughneck” is a story based on his family’s struggle with intergenerational trauma resulting from family deaths, military service, and abuse. The story exposes the insidious and crippling effects of trauma, the resilience and beauty of the human spirit, and the miraculous healing power of psychedelics.

His experiences have granted him a sixth sense to understand the deep subconscious forces that direct human behaviors at all levels. The realization soon followed that our society is unknowingly shaped by various persistent micro-traumas that lead to epidemic levels of undiagnosed mental illness. The widespread and pervasiveness of the mental illness is so deep and subtle that it is invisible to the average observer.

His mission is to use film to pull the veil off the things that shape our identity, beliefs, politics, and society. With understanding of how our mental prisons were formed, we can finally escape to know true peace and happiness like never before. We can rediscover the child spirit within ourselves and once again live a life of beauty, love, and joy.

Please take the time to listen to my podcast linked below. Episode 1 is my testimony and how I came to learn what I did. Episode 2 is a breakdown of how the human mind works to help us survive and how this system becomes hijacked by those in power to manipulate our identity and perceptions of reality. It also discusses how psychedelics work to help us deprogram ourselves of the trauma-programming and restore the child-spirit within. This podcast is part storytelling, party psychology, part spirituality.

When I am not writing about serious dramatic subject matter, as beautiful and difficult as that can be for a story - I also love to write about Sci-fi action. Many readers have likened my Sci-fi to having a gritty James Cameron feel, which is a huge compliment because he has created some of my favorite films; Aliens, T1, T2, True Lies.
