I just recently lost a job so I tend to throw more energy into my award winning screenplay Oberlin, winner of 30 screenplay awards. It’s a true story about the first black man admitted to college in the United States, Charles Langston, who abandoned his promising college degree and career to rally the town of Oberlin, Ohio to take up arms to rescue an 18-year-old runaway slave who had been kidnapped by two federal marshals, intending to take him back to his slave masters in Kentucky. You can view my concept trailer at the website below. My first film, The Reliant, came to theaters in 2019, starring Kevin Sobo and Brian Bosworth. This film is a much more expensive venture and funding has been elusive. Similar films have made 10 to 20 times their cost in box office sales.

Great to meet you, J. P. Johnston. Sorry to hear you recently lost a job. Oberlin sounds interesting! 30 awards! Wow! Congratulations! And congratulations on The Reliant being released in theaters!
You could post your logline, synopsis, and script on your profile. Producers search profiles on here for projects. Click the gear symbol in the top right-hand corner and select “Edit profile” in the drop-down menu. Scroll down to “Loglines” and click “Add/edit loglines” to the right of “Loglines.” You can also post your project on your profile this way (near the top where it says “Add a Logline”): www.stage32.com/loglines

Sounds interesting. Perhaps you would like to attend one of the sessions of our virtual Open House at the SSI and the IPG in January. It might be a good spot to network and learn about some of the new directions independent film is taking. Reach out to me through a DM if you are interested!
