Hi everybody, I'm an emerging screenwriter from just outside of Houston, Texas. I came here today to make connections and spread my work. Even though I have been writing stories since I was a kid, this is the first time I'm writing screenplays. I have 4 completed shorts, and have entered one of them in the Austin Film fest, and I'm currently working on a movie adaptation of a book by Penelope Douglas. I have gotten with her agent, Jane Dystel, and have since stopped writing it (out of respect and in hopes to find a team to help me finish it), but she is willing to accept me as a screenwriter and Co-Producer (to any producer willing to be on the project), if I can come to her with a valid option offer from a reputable source. I want this so bad, so I'm doing all I can as a beginner with no connections to make my dream come true. Thank you.

Hi, Makaila Armstrong. Welcome to the community. I started writing as a kid too. Our elementary teacher had each of us make a short story book.

Best thing to do is adapt it yourself. Make it your version, vision in a screenplay. This will allow you to work with another writer when the time comes to say, "This is the direction, vision the story is going and I need another writer to help get it to its highest potential." This will let the other writer know it's not about you, it's about getting the script, "it," to it's highest state.
