Anything Goes : Pitch Deck by Tim Bragg

Pitch Deck

Who likes this idea for a pitch deck, of course it still needs to include the budget.

I like the unusual styling - it looks like a website for the titular hotel. My main comment is you need to give us the logline and more of the meat up at the top. The thematics and character motivations are interesting, but I want to know more of the basics like genre, setting, story. Also, you say a couple of times "Jason's decisions are reflected in the Grand Majestic's opulent but unforgiving backdrop". I don't understand how opulence mirrors inner turmoil. Perhaps this needs rephrasing or explaining.

E Langley

A suggestion not to use "demanding" twice in the logline.

The first logline sentence is a candidate for a cut or rewrite to show how the journey is romantic and suspenseful. What are the stakes?

Tim Bragg

I hear what you are saying, the way I have done previous pitch decks mentions everything John is suggesting, thanks John and Langley. i was interested in what other people's views might be with this approach.

Michael Dzurak

I agree with E Langley I'd pare down the logline from this:

"Prepare for a romantic and suspenseful journey. "The Grand Majestic" tells the story of Jason, a young man juggling a demanding job, a complicated love life, and a hotel full of demanding guests and unexpected crises."

...to this:

"A young man juggling a demanding job, complicated love life, and hotel full of quirky guests faces a series of unexpected crises when [insert stakes here.]"

E Langley

Welcome, Braggsy.

Pitch deck is flashy (nice looking website-ish presentation!) but the story is unclear.

What’s the ticking clock? What is Jason trying to accomplish before time runs out? I don’t know what his job is and what job he wants. How does the ex help or hurt his chances with that goal? What’s the conflict?

Tim Bragg

That is where the other log lines and synopsis came from. Gamma.
