Good morning everyone, hope all is good! I wanna start getting more active on here and interacting with you all more, so everyday I’m going to try to post something on here, whether it’s questions I have for you guys or even anything new I'm working on, anything new I found out about, and etc.
first question I want to ask you guys is about networking on social media. did you guys make a new account just for acting, or did you guys use your own personal page to show off your work? I would like to use my personal page, but I feel like it’s been too much of a “personal page” for so long I personally feel Like starting a new page and account would be better (even with me having to start over from scratch) and that account can only for my acting and etc. what do you guys think?

Good morning, Devin Singer. That's great that you wanna start getting more active on here and interacting more. I wasn't that active and didn't interact with other members a lot a while back. My experience has been like night and day since being more active and interacting more.
I'm not an actor, but I use my personal social media pages to network and pitch my projects. Making an account just for acting sounds like a great idea.

Good topic. Ask yourself if you’re the type of person who has their “public persona” vs their “private persona”? Or do you wear your emotions and opinions on your sleeve? If the former, start a new account. If the latter, you’ll find yourself wanting to double post the same thing on both accounts.
Another consideration is if you use your current account for deep connections with family and friends. Or is it just for posting memes, jokes, opinions, engaging with new people? If the former, start a new account. If the latter, just keep the one.
The only caution I’ll throw out there is that if you’re very opinionated on hot button issues, perhaps start a new account that will be just for career related stuff. As a producer of my own projects, I’ve seen local actors post vitriol related to their opinions, and it’s caused me to never want to hire them.

Devin Singer I've done both, and found that either can work, as long as you dive head first into meeting others in the same industry! :)

Hi Devin Singer I don't have separate social media accounts. I am conscious of what I post and don't get in arguments with people. My Instagram is more personal and where I connect with family and friends as opposed to X or Blue Sky. I am trying to set up a Facebook for professional reasons only as there are a lot of auditions on there. If you want to keep things separate you can make your personal account private and your professional one public and you may want to post some of the samethings. It's up to you really. Just be conscientious about what you say.

Devin Singer good question as I am also considering and re-considering my Instagram account strategy. I think the Matthew Cornwell , Suzanne Bronson and Rosie have given sound advice.. It depends on whether you are someone who likes to have a boundary between their personal and professional life and also what you use Instagram for.

Hey! I have been using my personal one for just sharing who I am - and who I am is an actress, a complete nerd and an adventurer. I also have a separate account I use as my portfolio - this one I usually share with people asking to see my work or see more headshots etc. I post photoshoots, and more and more also videos/reels, snippets from my work as an actress. So my personal page has a larger following, whereas my portfolio is targeted towards casting, producers, directors, writers and filmmakers in general :)
