Introduce Yourself : I think I love this place! by Gigi Colasanto

Gigi Colasanto

I think I love this place!

Hey everyone! I'm Gigi Colasanto – an Italian storyteller with a wild mix of passions.

But... let's start from the beginning, why did I find myself on STAGE 32?

I'm a writer, actor, director… and yep, a professional wrestler too.

I live for the stage and the screen, but I’ve also written novels, performed stand-up-style theatre, written and co-directed award-winning films, and sometimes thrown people across the ring.

Balance, right?

What drives me? The constant need to explore new voices and forms to express what I feel, to tell what I see. To make art. I always try to go deep with my work... or go bold.

Some recent highlights:

- Lead actor in C’era una volta Nobel (dir. Bruno Ugioli, 2024)

- Second unit director & screenwriter on Il Lago Incantato (dir. Max Chicco, 2024) – Best Cinematography @ Queens World Film Fest NY

- Author of Due Anime (2022) and Il fu ministro dell’Inferno (2020) – featured at international book fairs (Frankfurt, Turin, Rome)

- Creator/performer of two original plays still touring in Italy (CHE LINGUA! and SIAMO ALL'INFERNO... e deve pure piacerci!)

- Pro wrestling shows all over the country... because why not? But it's great, I am currently tag team champion in two federations.

I speak Italian, English, and some French and Spanish.

And I think I've said it all... Except why I am here on STAGE 32!

I said I would start at the beginning.

Well, is simple. I’m looking to work more internationally in the coming years. I’d love to collaborate with creatives from all over the world, jump into new projects, and maybe even travel while doing what I love.

I want to tell stories everywhere, with anyone who dares to be swaggering, deep, quirky, real, in love... or all of those things. :)

Let’s connect, exchange ideas, and make something unforgettable!

And hey, if you also juggle extraordinarily uncommon artistic lives... Well, I want to hear your story!

- Gigi

You're welcome, Gigi Colasanto. Congratulations on the lead actor role in C’era una volta Nobel and all your accomplishments! Have you thought about writing a wrestling film? Or writing, directing, and acting in one?

Richard "RB" Botto

That is one hell of an IYP, Gigi Colasanto, Congratulations on all your accomplishments!

David Zannoni

Buongiorno Gigi un piacere, saluti dal Messico. I am just curious, have you acted in Spanish language films or series?

Amanda Toney

Hola, hello, Bonjour and Buongiorno Gigi, what an inspiring IY post! You had me at professional wrestling (I’m sure you have stories!) I love that you are a multi-hyphenate and have worked in front of and behind the camera. Do you find that you are passionate about either side more? You have the right attitude to be open to international collaboration. There are a lot of opportunities all over the world. now. If you do like the below the line work, you should consider taking a Stage 32 certification course. Once you pass your test at the end of the certification, then you get entered into a database that shows that you are certified through Stage 32, which is accessible by our partner Film commissions who are looking for talent to work on films in their area : https://certification.stage32.com/?\_gl=1*1yng9bk*\_gcl\_au*NjUxNTcyNjU5LjE3NTA0NDcxMDc.*\_ga*NzM1NzExMi4xNzUwNDQ3MTA3*\_ga\_XLNHJMK8VC*czE3NTI5NDg5MzQkbzE4JGcxJHQxNzUyOTUwMDE1JGo2MCRsMCRoMA..#/

Alexandra Stevens

Welcome Gigi Colasanto Wow, i'm so impressed by how much energy you have for all the creative projects you mentioned, not to mention the wrestling. I have lot of respect for what you have accomplished. May you find lots of fruitful international collaborations and friends here at Stage 32. Did you have a specific project in mind?

Gigi Colasanto

Hi Maurice Vaughan, I’ve actually been thinking about it for quite a while! I’d absolutely love to bring the incredibly fun, and unfortunately still widely unknown, world of Italian wrestling to the big screen, capturing all of its unique shades and stories! :) Thanks for the question!

Maurice Vaughan

You're welcome, Gigi Colasanto. I think you should. You're a professional wrestler, so you wouldn't have to do research for the script. I don't think I've seen a movie about the world of Italian wrestling. I'm looking forward to watching it!

Gigi Colasanto

Hi David Zannoni! Not yet, but I love Spanish and would absolutely love to work in a Spanish-language film or series someday! I would like to refine the language a little bit, now my level is conversational. Pero me encanta pensar que algún día podré hacerlo. :)

Gigi Colasanto

Thank you so much Alexandra Stevens! Right now, I’m working on a new book and also looking for a new publishing home for my second one, Due Anime, which is very close to my heart. I’m also preparing two new theater productions with my company, and I’ve just started a new university program focused on the history of music, theater, and cinema — along with performance and film criticism. :)

I like to think that projects tend to appear organically, depending on who we are at a specific moment in life, so I’m staying open to all possibilities and just enjoying the journey! How about you? What are you working on? :)

Gigi Colasanto

Hi Amanda Toney! Thank you so much for your kind words and for sharing such helpful information. I truly appreciate it!

Yes, wrestling has definitely given me more than a few stories! :)

I honestly love both sides of the creative process, being in front of the camera and behind it, because each offers a different kind of challenge and fulfillment.

I’ll absolutely look into the Stage 32 certification course you mentioned, it sounds like a great opportunity. Thanks again for the encouragement! :)

Ashley Renee Smith

Gigi Colasanto, this might be one of my favorite introductions ever. I’m Ashley, Head of Community here at Stage 32, and I just have to say, your creative energy leaps off the page (or screen, in this case). From pro wrestling to playwriting, award-winning films to bold storytelling, your range is not just impressive, it’s inspiring.

Since you’re looking to collaborate internationally, I’d recommend jumping into our Filmmaking Lounge (https://www.stage32.com/lounge/directing), Acting Lounge (https://www.stage32.com/lounge/acting), and Screenwriting Lounge (https://www.stage32.com/lounge/screenwriting). We’ve got creatives from all over the world in there.

Thrilled you’ve joined us, can’t wait to see what you create next!

Alexandra Stevens

Gigi Colasanto where do you get your energy from ? All your projects sound interesting. I guess you get your energy because your creating feels soul-aligned. Right now I am coaching actors and teaching acting and doing some acting. I have two small kids and a full-time job as a psychotherapist so not as much time on my hands as I would like but enjoy all of my busy-ness.

Gigi Colasanto

Ashley Renee Smith Wow, Ashley, what a wonderful message! Thank you so much for such a warm welcome and for your incredibly kind words. I’m truly excited to be part of the Stage 32 community! I can’t wait to dive into the Lounges you recommended, connect with creatives from all over the world, and collaborate on projects that push storytelling in new directions.

Looking forward to what’s ahead, and thanks again for the inspiration and encouragement!

Gigi Colasanto

Alexandra Stevens Thank you so much! Your message really made me smile. I think you hit the nail on the head, when what you create feels aligned with who you are, the energy just flows naturally. And I definitely feel that creative spark every time I dive into a new project.

It sounds like you’re juggling a lot, but with such meaningful work... Coaching, acting, psychotherapy, and being a parent… that's truly inspiring. Sometimes the busiest lives are also the most creatively rich! Wishing you continued joy and inspiration in everything you do.

Let’s keep in touch, I’d love to hear more about your journey! :)
