LOGLINE: After a cataclysmic event decimates the planet's population, a lone scientist confined to a belt of survival pods that encircle the entire globe, must stop an unknown force from killing the few remaining survivors.
My writing partner, Kelvin Watkins and I, are very excited to have submitted our TV pilot to the Sci/Fi Fantasy contest. Here's the logline: A 16th century conquistador, still alive and well and living in the suburbs of Santa Fe, New Mexico, has his idyllic life threatened when his long buried father resurfaces seeking revenge. As a history major in college and having travelled to the northwest corner of New Mexico, I became interested in the under appreciated history and culture of that part of the world I also thought that that history and culture, both Spanish and indigenous, might make for a compelling and richly detailed TV series. The result is our TV pilot script: "El Dorado, NM."
I submitted my Coverfly Red Listed TV Pilot “Somethin’ X-tra!”, a gender and genre bender of a series aimed at young adults. I didn’t think about it while writing the pilot but on reflection it’s definitely anime-inspired. I flew to LA two weeks ago to be on set for another project I’m involved with that wrapped on July 20th. My star-designate for “Somethin’ X-tra!” was in it and I took the opportunity to have lunch with her and a co-star. I’m preparing a reality show pitch featuring the two of them which will crossover with my scripted projects and those of my director and producers. We’re going to do a dramatized table read in October which will be filmed and parts used in the reality show trailer for the pitch. I’ve got so much going on that I need a manager, so “Somethin’ X-tra!” Is being looked at by a producer/manager through Stage32 professional bookings. He owes me a zoom call in the next two weeks. So, we’ll see if all this pans out and if Stage32 can help.
Hi, Pat! I submitted SOLARPUNKS VS. THE ANNIHILATION ULTIMATUM - My SciFi TV Pilot which earned a 2025 spot on Coverfly's RED LIST for rising to the Top 3% of all Sci-Fi scripts.
Imagine submitting an Ancestry DNA Test, then days later a stranger tracks you down and tells you you’re a hybrid-human like them, and you’ve got to run, NOW!
Present Day: A fugitive group of twenty-year-olds, covertly bioengineered with evolved abilities by rogue extraterrestrials, must find a way to guide humanity to save itself from the countdown to annihilation started by an alliance of worlds intent on protecting Earth, from us.
I love this script and I'm proud to say the PITCH DECK is kind of awesome.
I submitted my fantasy./action feature, "Witches & Warriors". LOGLINE: A teenager is unexpectedly transported from 1990 to the 1960s, where he becomes entangled in the world of hippies, the Vietnam War, and the paranormal, forcing him to confront his own destiny and the power of the past. "Stargate" meets "Platoon".
I submitted my Sci-fi thriller, ZEEKA CHRONICLES: REVENGE OF ZEEKA.. Zeeka Chronicles: Revenge of Zeeka is a fast-paced, ethically layered sci-fi thriller that explores the dark possibilities of artificial intelligence, human ambition, and vengeance in a futuristic Caribbean. It is perfect for fans of high-concept science fiction, biotech suspense, and readers seeking underrepresented voices in speculative fiction.
Thank you, Pat! I submitted my dark fantasy, animation pilot, "The Shadow Knight".
Logline: Faced with the impending destruction of his world by an Eldritch God, the schizophrenic and notorious "Shadow Knight" must safeguard a prophet of legend against extraterrestrial invaders.
I spent many years working on this script because it's personal to me. It is reflective of my own dealings with schizophrenia and the toll it took on my life. However, I wanted to share this experience through fantasy because I always loved the genre as a little kid.
The Shadow Knight is in its third draft. I've submitted to multiple competitions in recent years, but I've never made it to quarterfinalists. This may be the same case with this contest too. Regardless, I'm still going to work on it, possibly reaching a twelfth draft if needed. I'm passionate in getting the story right.
When ancient alien artifacts surface near a forgotten Australian outback town, a pair of teenagers become unlikely witnesses to a cosmic event that will claim Earth's moon for galactic terraforming. As an ancient Aboriginal spirit awakens and NASA astronauts converge on their remote playground, the boys discover that some mysteries can only be understood through the simple wisdom of friendship—and the acceptance of forces beyond human control.
This is my first attempt at writing a screenplay, which is based on my novel of the same name. It's great being part of the exciting possibility of one day seeing my story come alive on the screen.
I just submitted my feature film The Procedure to the contest. It’s a story I’ve been developing for a couple of years, and I finally feel like it landed in the right place with help from a close friend. The initial idea came out of a conversation with a producer friend who had always wanted to write. He shared a few thoughts, and I ran with one of them, which evolved into The Procedure.
At its core, it’s about how far a parent will go for their child. But it also serves as a reflection of the world we live in and where it might be headed.
LOGLINE:
In a near-future where the wealthy pay to transfer their illnesses to the poor through a medical procedure, a desperate father sacrifices himself to save his dying son. Only to uncover a devastating truth that could bring down the entire system built on exploitation and lies.
It’s grounded sci-fi in the spirit of Children of Men, Elysium, or Gattaca, with a touch of cyberpunk/neo-noir style.
It’s really great to be part of this community of passionate storytellers. While I don’t necessarily think of myself as a writer first, I’m more of a director with stories to tell. I’ve learned to write what I want to direct. So I guess that makes me a writer-director after all.
I submitted 2 scripts: In Case of Human - think Alien, but in reverse - humans are the most dangerous species in the galaxy.
And Vile Snow White - near future thriller about a spoiled, arrogant influencer who sets up her bodyguard and thus sets off a chain of destructive events.
People often ask what inspired me to write Golden Coin, and the answer is a mix of imagination, passion, and instinct.
I’ve always had a vivid, imaginary mind. I love stories that transport me — epic war films, ancient mythologies, unique creatures, and powerful characters. That passion for fantasy and history made me want to create something that combines all of it into one compelling world.
But more than that — this story gives me a strong feeling every time I work on it. It feels like something special, something I’d genuinely love to watch myself. And that’s when I knew it was worth building.
I’ve shared the story with several friends and fellow writers, and the feedback has been very encouraging. One thing people love is how each episode stays fresh — this isn’t a concept that fades after a few chapters. Every episode follows the journey to find a new coin, with its own story, setting, challenges, and characters. Sometimes it involves magic, sometimes power, sometimes theft or betrayal — but it always moves the larger plot forward.
In a world where many series lose direction after a few episodes, Golden Coin is designed to keep the audience engaged, curious, and emotionally invested.
My goal is to turn my love for epic storytelling into something people will truly enjoy. If I can bring that to life on screen, I believe Golden Coin will connect with many.
Logline for Golden coin is " Twelve magical coins are the only hope against rise of an immortal army fueled by dark powers. Driven by his father's legacy, a young prince must race against a treacherous prince to gather them before their kingdom falls."
Thanks so much Pat Alexander. All of the entries sound interesting and exciting! I entered "The Book of Jon: A Blade of Saints & Angels".
It's "City of Angels" meets "Children of Men" with "John Wick".
Here's the logline: In a dystopian, forgotten city, an angel-turned-human and a former special ops soldier must stop an ancient evil from replacing humanity’s bloodline with that of the Nephilim - a hybrid race of fallen angels and human giant warriors, before humankind is lost forever.
Thank you so much Pat Alexander. I entered "Children of Future"
It's "Westworld" meets "Astro Boy" (Japanese Manga) and a little bit of "The Matrix"
Logline:
In a future where humanity is on the brink of extinction and sentient robots are enslaved, a group of super Androids must survive a deadly hunt by a mysterious assassin while uncovering a secret plot to liberate their kind—even if it means sacrificing their own existence.

Hi, Pat! Excited to be back in the Sci-Fi/Fantasy Contest. The very first time I submitted a script to a competition was to this one back in 2021 and it was amazing to become a Quarterfinalist then (especially because I was new to this whole thing).
So now I'm back with a different project, a dystopian adventure called The Citadel of the Five Mountains.
20 Years after the war that defined the world, the country of the Five Mountains has rebuild itself through pain and effort, but not everything is perfect. Fearing that alternative ways of thinking might jeopardize the hard-earned society they have built, the government has prohibited anything that goes against the official history. Those who dare to say, do, or even think something that doesn't fit with their version of the facts, are arrested and sent to a special treatment. Naturally, there's a group of people who refuses to follow the rules and is living in the forests. These are called The Opponents, and they are hunted down by the government.
Now, as a way to guarantee the loyalty of young people, an institute offering free education for everyone has been created and, in exchange for the best possible education, students are forced to do some military missions in which they help hunting down and trapping the Opponents. And it all seems perfect. People are told that they are doing the right thing, that the Opponents are a threat, and that every time an Opponent is trapped (or killed) the world becomes a safer place.
But then... one of the students, a pilot called Deshaund Riho, finds a strange object lost in the forests. Its technology is way too good to belong to the Opponents, so he begins to wonder... Does this really belong to the Opponents, or is there another threat menacing the society? His doubts begin to increase as more strange events begin to happen. First, a prison escape, then a bombing.
Yes, there is no doubt that something odd is going on, so Riho decides to investigate. However, since everyone is tense and he is just one more student among many others that have seen or find things, he has no choice but to search for an alternative way to get to the big bosses - more particularly, the institute principal, Ovel Dunson. To do so, he teams up with his granddaughter, the rebellious, pro-Opponent Arabella Dunson, who might actually hold the key to solve the mystery.
That's basically the first 25 pages haha. This one is quite a challenge to describe, at least for me. While it might seem like a young adult dystopian adventure, I can't really say it belongs to this genre. It was more inspired by Japanese anime and the 1960s counterculture movement, so... yeah. It's a tricky one haha. I started this project as a book back in 2018. It took me a year to write the first one, then another four to write the much darker sequels. Sadly they're not available in English yet, but maybe some day.
In a desperate attempt to capture energy from the intense winds of Mt. Devon, the project director accepts aid from a mysterious group of scientists with an amazing solution, unaware of their true nature and intentions.
INSPIRATION
Upon reaching the summit of Mt. Washington during an early April backpacking trip, my filmmaker juices started flowing wildly upon seeing the ice-covered weather station and visitor's center! On a second backpacking trip the summer of the following year, I put on my film inspiration cap and came up with a plot. Mt Washington became the fictional Mt. Devon where attempts were being made to construct a device that could hold up to and harness the most intense winds in the country.
The experiences of our own party of four provided the light and often humorous tone of the fictional character relationships. With an intent to accommodate a relatively modest budget, the banter between characters keeps up the entertainment value in between the limited (by today's Hollywood standards) yet exciting action and FX.
Around the same time, I was watching 1940's and 1950's theatrical serials where the style, pacing, and a degree of camp found its way into my script. In fact, the film is constructed where you could break it into serial chapters with cliffhangers (though no "red herring" cliffhangers). Of course, there are plenty of cliffs on the mountain. The villains in the serials often possess a diabolical device, which in this case is the Coriolis. There are also subtle nods to some of my favorite sci-fi films of the 1950's and 1960's.
I did not want my heroes to be a heartbeat away from super-human. No character simply walks away from physical abuse that would put most of us in intensive care. I wanted average people, with useful skills, simply doing what they must to survive in an isolated environment, and stop a plot with far-reaching consequences. Lying low and waiting for the "cavalry" is not seen as an option. The situations are still harrowing with a bit of luck involved, but I wanted believability beyond what is often seen in action films.
Drawing from a personal childhood experience, the four backpackers are teachers in a youth geology program at a small local museum, and friends of the Mt. Devon project director. In my case it was the Morris Museum here in NJ. They are introduced in light to humorous scenes derived from my actual experiences in the classroom and a field trip to the Franklin Mine rock dump, which included a black-light shed for checking mineral fluorescence. Kids can become easily distracted with a black-light.
The four become part of a survey team investigating a huge and unusual geologic upheaval that occurred in the mountain range shortly before the visitors appeared with their amazing and ultimately worrisome tech.
One of the greatest challenges for me was coming up with the title. I wanted it to contain the word "wind", but I didn't want it to sound too familiar. The bottom half of the poster I whipped up is a composite of my actual Mt. Washington photos.
Good luck to all my writer colleagues. Regardless of who comes out on top, I hope everyone finds a path to making their dream a reality!
