Introduce Yourself : In-between Things by Mary Foster

Mary Foster

In-between Things

Apparently I've been a writer for almost eight years. Time flies! Twenty-five play-tested scripts that I've changed multiple times and continue to revamp per the audience and setting. I’m a researcher and playwright drawn to the stories that live in the in-between. Fact and imagination, past and present, humor and heartbreak. I write murder mystery dinner scripts rooted in history and community, that invite the audience to dip their toes into the possibility that they can learn while being entertained. I believe the liminal is where the good stuff lives, and that a little absurdity goes a long way.

Murder mystery dinner scripts rooted in history and community sound interesting! Like Knives Out at dinner?

Mary Foster

I've been jumping in and out of reading through the various tabs and opportunities here! It's like stepping into another world!

Thank you for the resources.

I really need to watch Knives Out in order to say whether it's a proper comparison. Right now I'm building my pitch deck for a Bonnie & Clyde themed whodunit and I'd say it's like Clue meets meets True Detective with a Depression-era twist.

Knives Out is incredible! Both of them.

"a Bonnie & Clyde themed whodunit and I'd say it's like Clue meets meets True Detective with a Depression-era twist." I don't even need to know what it's about. I want to watch it!

Mary Foster

Lol!

Very helpful information and I appreciate the communication! I'm currently watching the Umbrella Academy and it's splendid!

Thank you, thank you. I think I'm going to like it here.

Hello! Welcome Mary Foster I love that you're working with the "in-between" liminal space aspects. It connects to spiritual growth and being in the space of becoming while still transforming into who you will become. I work within the psychological genre with undertones of mental health. I too, want my work to reflect growth and entertainment. I want the audience/viewers to go within and grow while being entertained. Good luck!

You're welcome, Mary Foster. Umbrella Academy is incredible too! Yeah, I think you'll like it here. I'm looking forward to hearing more about your scripts when you're ready to share more about them!

Hi Mary Foster. Congratulations on your hard work. I love this: "I believe the liminal is where the good stuff lives, and that a little absurdity goes a long way." Yep, me too.

Ben Henning

Welcome, Mary! I've been dabbling around this community for about a year and it's quite a fun and interesting place-- a great for connections.

Love your thoughts on liminal space. That certainly makes me intrigued about your scripts, too, because I feel the same way. Is it real? Is it in your imagination? The answer is YES!

Chris Ross Leong

how cool of you, Mary! So good to meet you here!

Mary Foster

Thank you everyone for being so welcoming! I'm energized by the positivity!
