Screenwriting : What Movie Quote Lights Your Match? by Sandra Isabel Correia

Sandra Isabel Correia

What Movie Quote Lights Your Match?

Some lines stay with us.

They echo in our rewrites, whisper through our characters, and shape the way we see story.

Mine lately?

“All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us.” — Gandalf, The Lord of the Rings

It reminds me to write with urgency, with heart, with purpose.

So here’s our thread:

What movie quote sparks your creativity… again and again?

Drop the line. Tell us why.

Sandra Isabel Correia

Ah Jay Gladwell, that’s one is a Masterclass :)) Very good share.

Michael Dzurak

At the end of Dr. No and James Bond's first meeting, Dr. No has Bond beaten.

Dr. No: "For the moment, just soften him up. I haven't finished with him yet."

In the next scenes, Bond navigates a painful escape from a cell via vents.

I think of that after an unproductuve, page-staring, session of "writing" and how I should get back into it no matter what.

Sandra Isabel Correia

I remember that scene Michael Dzurak :)) And that dialogue matches perfectly your absence writing creativity :)) No matter what, you will do it :)) I love 007 movies, special with Roger Moore :))

Maurice Vaughan

I need to find a movie quote that sparks my creativity again and again, Sandra Isabel Correia. Thanks for the idea!

Banafsheh Esmailzadeh

It’s a very simple quote from one of my absolute favourite movies, The Fountain: “You do. You will.” Also from the same movie “Finish it.” Every time I feel I’m stuck and don’t know the way forward it’s like Izzi herself is telling me to keep going. I gotta watch it again lol

Daniel Silvas

"Remember Remember, the fifth of November. The gunpowder, treason, and plot. I know of no reason why the gunpowder treason should ever be forgot." V . I love this line because it's a character defining line and you get it right at the beginning.

Sandra Isabel Correia

Michael Elliott 2, and how "There is no try. Only do." Yoda, does it impact your creative spark?

Sandra Isabel Correia

Find it Maurice Vaughan and share with us :))

Sandra Isabel Correia

ahaha that's so beautiful, Banafsheh Esmailzadeh. Do you have it in your vision board?

Sandra Isabel Correia

I love that Daniel Silvas, and it's always a very good reminder and recenters us. :) Thanks for sharing.

Banafsheh Esmailzadeh

Sandra Isabel Correia thanks hehe nope, just in my head :) I should probably make one.

Chris Baetens

"It's not the years honey, it's the mileage." - Indiana Jones: Raiders of the Lost Ark.

Aleksandr Rozhnov

When producers tell me a script needs to be reworked, I always answer with the words of the T-800 from Terminator: I'll be back."

Aleksandr Rozhnov

Although, you know, probably the films richest in such phrases are the ones made in the Soviet Union. These films are already 60–70 years old, but some of them are still being rewatched. And millions of phrases from these films are circulating widely in many countries

Jim Boston

Sandra Isabel, I like what Tom Hanks told Geena Davis in 1992's "A League of Their Own" in response to Davis' considering quitting baseball because playing had gotten too hard:

"It's supposed to be hard. If it wasn't hard, everyone would do it. The hard...is what makes it great."

To me, that sounds like this journey I'm on as a creative.

I quit once before...and didn't come back to the journey until 22 years later (April 2016).

This time, I'm determined to stay in there.

Billy Kwack

From the movie Seven, Morgan freeman, a world of knowledge and your playing poker

Sandra Isabel Correia

I love that Chris Baetens :))

Sandra Isabel Correia

Ah, Aleksandr Rozhnov, that's a classic and represents all of your spirits' strength. And I know you will be back!

Sandra Isabel Correia

That's a beautiful one, Jim Boston. I loved that movie, and it reminded me of a phrase I always tell people: "It's difficult because you have the ability to overcome." Otherwise, it will be easy. :) Feel proud of yourself.

Sandra Isabel Correia

Thanks Billy Kwack for sharing :)

Emmanuel Anwana Esin

Very great inspiration

Sandra Isabel Correia

Thank you Emmanuel Anwana Esin. What ‘s your favorite quote?

E Langley

If you build it, he will come.

CJ Walley

"It's theatre. It's an interpretation of life. It can be truer than life itself." - Clouds of Sils Maria

Sandra Isabel Correia

I agree with that, E Langley. It's from a movie?

Sandra Isabel Correia

That's so beautiful, CJ Walley. Life is a theatre also :))

E Langley

Yes, Sandra Isabel Correia. The amazing "Field of Dreams."

Sandra Isabel Correia

It's beautiful, E Langley . Thanks for letting me know :)

E Langley

I've watched it at least a dozen times.

The final aerial shot of thousands of cars heading for the field never fails to wet my eyes.

Sandra Isabel Correia

It's a heartfelt movie E Langley. Inspiring :)

Michael Reeves 2

One that always sticks with me is: ‘Hope is a good thing, maybe the best of things, and no good thing ever dies.’ — The Shawshank Redemption. It reminds me why I tell stories in the first place

Sandra Isabel Correia

I just love that one, Michael Reeves 2: ‘Hope is a good thing, maybe the best of things, and no good thing ever dies." It's something that we must remember everyday of our lives. I appreciate this sharing. Thank you.

Jerry Robbins

My favorite - "So let it be written - so let it be done." I always hear Yul Brynner's voice when I think of it!
