Some lines stay with us.
They echo in our rewrites, whisper through our characters, and shape the way we see story.
Mine lately?
“All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us.” — Gandalf, The Lord of the Rings
It reminds me to write with urgency, with heart, with purpose.
So here’s our thread:
What movie quote sparks your creativity… again and again?
Drop the line. Tell us why.

At the end of Dr. No and James Bond's first meeting, Dr. No has Bond beaten.
Dr. No: "For the moment, just soften him up. I haven't finished with him yet."
In the next scenes, Bond navigates a painful escape from a cell via vents.
I think of that after an unproductuve, page-staring, session of "writing" and how I should get back into it no matter what.

It’s a very simple quote from one of my absolute favourite movies, The Fountain: “You do. You will.” Also from the same movie “Finish it.” Every time I feel I’m stuck and don’t know the way forward it’s like Izzi herself is telling me to keep going. I gotta watch it again lol

"Remember Remember, the fifth of November. The gunpowder, treason, and plot. I know of no reason why the gunpowder treason should ever be forgot." V . I love this line because it's a character defining line and you get it right at the beginning.

Although, you know, probably the films richest in such phrases are the ones made in the Soviet Union. These films are already 60–70 years old, but some of them are still being rewatched. And millions of phrases from these films are circulating widely in many countries

Sandra Isabel, I like what Tom Hanks told Geena Davis in 1992's "A League of Their Own" in response to Davis' considering quitting baseball because playing had gotten too hard:
"It's supposed to be hard. If it wasn't hard, everyone would do it. The hard...is what makes it great."
To me, that sounds like this journey I'm on as a creative.
I quit once before...and didn't come back to the journey until 22 years later (April 2016).
This time, I'm determined to stay in there.

That's a beautiful one, Jim Boston. I loved that movie, and it reminded me of a phrase I always tell people: "It's difficult because you have the ability to overcome." Otherwise, it will be easy. :) Feel proud of yourself.

One that always sticks with me is: ‘Hope is a good thing, maybe the best of things, and no good thing ever dies.’ — The Shawshank Redemption. It reminds me why I tell stories in the first place

My favorite - "So let it be written - so let it be done." I always hear Yul Brynner's voice when I think of it!
