Lovely to meet you John Radtke congrats on being an optioned writer. I’m Kevin, I’m also a writer. What’s your favourite genre and what are you working on right now?
Brilliant ideal! I never stop writing either! It's good to meet you, my name is Sarah. What type or types of literature do you like writing? Do you have a favourite project?
Hi, John. Former cheesehead here. Congrats on your option! Since transitioning from the music business, I’ve directed two shorts, a handful of music videos, and a half-hour pilot. As of last week, I am directing my first feature, working with producers for whom I’ve worked on four features. Keep up the good work!
Hi John. How do you become an optioned writer? I (true confessions moment) don't even know what that means. (Oh my God, there are so many notices, if I answer them all, I'll never get to my day.) Tell me your story. You wrote a screenplay, , and then you got optioned. This blank space brings back painful memories. athe two of them were sitting together in the party, then they left , and then the next morning he said to everybody, "I ______ (had sex with) _____________________ (name of girl). Maybe I should write a movie called the blank space about an autistic guy who experiences a lot of blank, unexplained spaces. "Wait a minute! How did we get from A (writing) to C (optioned)? Wasn't there supposed to be a B somewhere in between? Or did I learn the alphabet all wrong. And if any of you use this line, Im coming after you.
Marc Ginsburg I became an optioned writer by honing my craft, working my ass off, networking, crying, standing on the ledge, and eating a lot of donuts. Everything is true except for standing on the ledge. There is no tried way to break into Hollywood. Just keep writing! If you option your script, you're basically renting it to the producer who is looking to make it into a movie. There are also shopping agreements, and of course, selling your script.
