Do my posts actually get seen by anyone? This is the second chance for stage32 added over 100 new contacts and not one single hello. Can somebody explain this website to me? Is it a popularity contest. I am here to network. I am a filmmaker from London and I am looking to discuss my new project with likeminded people. Are you there? SPEAK TO ME
Hello!
Hi Dave, I just signed up recently but it seems as if a lot of people sign up and rarely come back. It seems like a great way to network but I suspect it will take a while to make enough of the right connections.
Hi Dave, it can be confusing a bit at first. Have you tried posting in the Lounge? It can be great for getting conversations started. Maybe put out some questions that are more general for film and you will find like minded individuals eventually who answer. Jim's correct too. I was active for awhile but was inactive from Sept. till now.
I also think as more people join it may be harder for some to say hello. When I first joined I got a few new contacts in a month but with 80 new ones I accepted today I cannot go to all to say hi. I can but I won't. If I was actively looking for work I would tho.
I'm speaking.....I'm speaking............!!!!!!!!!!

This type of networking opportunity is what you make of it. You should "get out" and say hello to people rather than expect them to come to you. You need to discuss and comment on the projects of others. Creating an account, adding "contacts" and then sitting in the corner is like going to the local hot night club ordering a drink and standing against a back wall wondering why people aren't approaching you.

I'll chime in here. Rik, you win the prize. You get out what you put in. Laura, you're spot on too...Posting in the Stage 32 Lounge is, especially in the INTRODUCE YOURSELF section, is the way to get in front of the ENTIRE community. If you are just posting on your wall, and you have not made any network connections, you are posting to, well, nobody. BTW, tomorrow begins our monthly INTRODUCE YOURSELF WEEKEND. Last 3 months, over 283,000 connections have been made by our members. I highly recommend ALL new members read the FAQ. There is a link at the bottom of every page. We also have a TIP OF THE WEEK archive available under the BROWSE button on the top menu. Further, anyplace you see a ? on a page, you can click for more info. And, Jim, you couldn't be more incorrect. We have an 87% return rate, which is 26% above industry standard. Bottom line, since we launched in Sept 2011, over 85,000 people from around the globe have joined this community. Thousands have found work, launched projects, found funding, landed representation, or simply made a life altering connection. But not one of them achieved any of those benchmarks without participating and putting in the time. Wish you all the best of luck, as always.

And hello, Dave :) Great to have you here.
With a huge humble smile on my face I say hello to you all. I've on stage32 for a while now. I post things for allto see. I check out other peoples work. But haven't collaborated yet, which is what I hoped I could use the site for. I make a lot of short films in London. I've also just finished working on the new green street movie. This post was just to 'make sure' as a lot of people send requests and dissapear or want to marry me. And thay's as far as I have gone. I am specifically keen to talk to those in the uk. Producers, lighting and sound. I have a good showrerl and a great script ready to ho. So i am hoping to be able to put some money together to get an amazing film madr. I am here to find people to come along with me on the journey... Thank you all for your responses

RB, the equivalent of having Zuckerburg post on your wall! Thanks, great to be here. I'll stop standing in the corner... who's up for a dance?
I see you Dave. I hope that you find great success and one day can pay me to come act for you.

I'm almost embarrassed to say that when I read your comment, I was wearing a hoodie. Sounds as if you have a ton of ideas and the drive and desire to see them through, Dave. Have you considered posting the details of the script and the desired crew, etc, in the Projects section? For a variety of reasons, that's one of the highest trafficked area of the site. Have a feeling you might be able to drum up some interest there. I have no doubt that your enthusiasm will connect with the desired creative minds.
I saw your post 5 minutes ago :) What's your new project idea? interested in hearing/reading about it :) Always happy to collaborate with passionate people!
As Jerry would say, "Helllllllloooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo..."

Hello, Dave. I get to London a couple times a year, mostly to sing & play Jazz, but I'm also a professional actor. My next trip is looking like June 2013. I'd love to help out on any project you might be involved in at the time. Of course, I'd prefer to be acting, but in the spirit of collaboration I have often taken up other duties. ~Cheers!

Thanks for your comments. So I just poured my heart out in projects section. I am going to give this 110% to make it happen. I have some really awesome ideas.
HI sir!!
Please contact me if you need a MUA in Los Angeles Amy_hanlin@yahoo.com Ill send resume upon request :)
Hi Dave, glad it was cleared up. R.B. is straight up, and the site can work for your purposes. I wish you luck and want to hear about your project.
Do you want a lot of contacts or a quality contacts? If you want quantity, there are a hundred in my in box waiting for my response I could send to you. Many I have not looked at yet because their forte is not in demand on my current focus. Some I am not currently interested in. A select few I desire to never associate with again. Actually I am surprised they have the nerve to ask to connect! I see Stage 32 more as a place for connecting to find the resource you need rather than socializing. Face book is over ......there... if you want to look at the cool pic of Aunt Tilly's cat. Here? I could ask for an SFX makeup artist in Ft Lauderdale willing to work on Christmas Day for three hours... and POOF! four "hello where do you need me and when?" emails. It is all a bit in how you decide to use it. Also you need a bit thicker skin in this industry. Can't take it personally if Bill Shatner doesn't call back to volunteer his time acting in your indie soap opera "Again the Lawn Grows."
Hello Dave and welcome to the community. Continue to engage yourself. Look at what just happen...
I am glad that we have this post from 'Elizabeth' to highlight my previous plight.
Hello Dave, I'm sorry it seemed that way. I posted a Happy Holidays myself and no one responded. But I do understand it does take time to know people, there are a lot of people on here and it is the holidays. But HELLO. I hope your projects go well for you, now and in the future. I'd love to collaborate with you on a short script, if you ever need a screenwriter. Have a great day.

And Elizabeth has been banned. She will have to seek love elsewhere. Thanks for the heads up. On another note, this thread took a very inspiring turn. Awesome to see. Onward and upward...
Hi Dave, I'm here to network
RB I thought it might have been true love with Elizabeth! Hey Sean. Great to hear me too! Let's do some networking... I'd be keen to find out roughly what stage people are at. Are you all involved in film? Do you treat it as a hobby or is this your ultimate goal. I recently went full time as a freelancer and working on my own stuff. Well the money isn't as good but my attitude to life has changed for the better. I am interested to see what paths people have followed so far...
I know what you mean, Dave...I miss Elizabeth already [my heart is most certainly tearfully breaking]. To answer your query, been writing since I was about 10 years old - done it (writing, that is) in a multitude of forms and media. Fairly new to the acting thing, (dabbled in film, TV, and theatre). I find both acting and writing to be a very fulfilling experience to help blossom the creativity that is within me. This may sound a bit hokey, but my ultimate goal is to be me. I know you guys know what I mean.
Hi Dave I have completed a year long diploma course in tv and film production and I am now doing a second year this time in tv presenting and film production, I have co produced an stage managed a theatre production in the Edinburgh fringe festival if I had the money for my own equipment I would be making films already but at the moment its just college projects, I think I am a pretty good photographer mainly landscapes my ultimate goal in life is to just make movies... if serious money comes into it good and well but I at the end of the day as long as I am making films I am happy
Ha ha, well Hello there :)

Hello Dave! Always looking for a talented director. Cheers!
Hello Dave! I'm speaking! Helloooo! (I won't shout though because I'm in London too and it might deafen you.) G
Hellooo! I am Edinburgh based but am also fairly frequently in London. I have a house there that I have listed as location with UKfilmlocation.com (Ref LON1387) In Edinburgh I run a young film makers group called Scatterbox (Youtube: http://www.youtube.com/user/scatterboxfilms ) Glad to meet you, Dave.
Freda, Hi! I love Edinburgh. Went up for Hogmanay a few years ago. Great fun and lovely people. Had a great time!
Yes - fabulous city - with a view of the hills from the city centre - marvellous! And the biggest Arts Festival in the world, it is said :) Film and TV, Fringe, International, Jazz and Book festivals all rolled up into one lovely summer :)
Any film festivals in London for short films that you can recommend?
Virgin Shorts. London Short Film Festival. Raindance.
London Science Fiction Festival.
thank you so much!! I will look those up. I would love to visit London. I've never been there. I'm an avid fan of BBC and it would be so great to have one of my films in a festival there. thanks again
