Anything Goes : Making connections by Jane Brewster (artistjane)

I live near New Orleans, LA, also known these days as "Hollywood South." The state gives generous tax credits to companies who'll make their movies here, and many have done so. Movies ranging from "Beasts of the Southern Wild" and "Benjamin Button," to "Contraband." I have worked on a couple as a prop designer/graphic artist, but had a hard time getting work in 2012. Visiting productions have also been bringing in people from out of town, so it's a tough job market for experienced locals.Of course, EVERYONE tells me, "all you have to do is make a connection, and you're in." I love my work, and the everyday creative challenge --- and want this statement to come true in 2013! How do YOU make connections?
