Thanks Richard. You're right - wannabe filmmakers - like myself - have to show what we can do before we have any money - rather than sit around and whinge that nobody's funding our projects.
Hey - just noticed this is 'trending'. Wow, I feel so humbled by this. Love to get more feedback. It's a zero budget short I'm trying to get into festivals. The full version (29 minutes) is on IMDB - hidden for festival people only. I'd like to know what people think about having to make zero budget movies just to get seen. Is it fair? Right? Or wrong? I know some professionals who don't approve of me making this movie for nothing - they think it makes it harder for them to get paid work. Your thoughts?
Thanks for the feedback, mark. I appreciate it very much... I prefer to think I'm recording in HD, rather than nasty old 'video'! It's hard sometimes to know in post whether to go for the film 'blurry' look or stick with the detail inherent in the HD files. I wanted to create a 'daytime horror' feel essentially. Anyway, thanks again. I need input like yours!
It's like the Hobbit thing - everybody hates that you can see the makeup and prosthetic noses - and there's no blur on the action, which looks odd to the eye.
I read in Film School Rejects that HD is more popular with kids - the next generation in other words. It's us oldies that like the classic 'film' look because it's what we're used to - perhaps?
Hi Jacqueline. Thanks for spotting that. It's actually a software program that I use sometimes. I like the effect too. I was a painter before a filmmaker so I have some of that leftover in the way I construct images. Nice to connect!
the words interfere with the images - they cancel each other out - give us the images - the right ones are the ones that at least suggest a narrative thread - then have one statement at the end that provokes our interest by contextualising what we have just seen. The music is terrible - it works completely against what we are seeing - make it less busy - in fact the whole thing is WAY TOO busy - back to the edit suite

Just watched the trailer. Looks good for a zero budget. Best of luck!
Thanks Gary, keep rockin'
You are welcome!
Moves quick that's good. Have some lighting issues video makes you have to work a lot harder for a/ the "real look"

Re above - that's me (the director) in the middle. You can see a flawless version of the song at vimeo too: https://vimeo.com/61578000
