I know it may seem like geeky stuff but till we don't widen the horizons of our mainstream, even our art and culture will have limited influences to draw inspiration from, to reflect. Mainstream attention, interest makes all this more commercially viable and hence sustainable. And these are important endevours to sustain.
This has been happening in more ways than one. Within most of our societies, localities, homes, we always know more about others than ourselves. And even if we do, somehow we are blind to it, disinterested, apathetic. Ironically, the solutions to most of our problems lies much closer than we think.

It is amazing what our scientist community world over has been doing and sadly it almost never finds mainstream attention in any country.
