Chain of events are very important because whether you're an actor, producer, screenwriter...whatever, you have to understand what chain of events bring you to a certain point in your journey. Missing just one piece of the chain because you're not paying attention, or you're just not diligent can result in a lost opportunity. Here's an example of what I mean. I work on submitting myself for acting projects every day. I submit myself, check all the casting sites, check Stage32 for opportunities, and I'm registered with every casting agency in my radius so as to not miss an opportunity. I've gone on tons of audtions. Some were, well disasters, some, I nailed them. The ratio of how many I've gone on to how many have materialized into projects are low. But that's the nature of the business. You're not going to hit it out of the park all the time, and you might not even get on base. But because I'm focused, and always working on it, I score my share of projects. I have been going up to Boston for years reading for this part and that, and by saying yes and showing up when they call me to come in, they've gotten to know me. So they're on my side. So when the part in the David O Russell film came up, naturally I was one of the actors that was instantly on their radar. Because I was present. So THAT chain of events led me to getting the part. Now I'm on the set, and I hit it off with one of the other wise guy actors that I'm working with. One thing leads to another, and we start talking about agents..that leads to me telling him, that I don't have an agent yet. He sees that I'm serious about what I'm doing and offers to call HIS agent and reccommend me. That chain of events leads to his agent calling and having me send all of my stuff. The bottom line now, is I'm meeting her in New York this Thursday to sign for representation. Chain of events....powerfull thing. Watch for it, pay attention, you see an opportinity? Take it.

Thank you for this very timely message. I just left a book fair where I sold 1 book. I felt a little discouraged when I left but once I reached home, I pulled myself together and reminded myself that this is not the end. My goal is to write professionally.
