One person from USA contacted me, saw my profile and resume and asked me to work with him as editor-consultant for his novel and further turning it into screenplay. We agreed mutually and then he wired me 1 day's payment as a token of goodwill. Right now I can't disclose more than this as I am in confidentiality agreement with him. Oh! Congratulations Chaitanya, I'm a complete newbie, I was encouraged by a friend in the business to try and turn a story idea I shared with him into a script. I've no real experience or training in writing but I managed to get a complete story in 25 pages script format, so it's a start - there's room in the story to grow the script. Can you tell me what a script reader does?

@Roger, A script reader reads the script, finds out the positive and negative points, weak areas and strong areas. As you know the script has many aspects right from premise, characters, dialogues to pacing, structural development and so many. We test your script on all of these major aspects. Now a role of script consultant begins, who suggests and guides you through the further development and rewrites of the script. It is done for improving the impact of the script and finally its sell-ability. If you have a script you can send it to me at my above mentioned email. Usually the readers charge from $60 to $200 depending on the services they provide. Currently I am charging $30 (plus taxes) for short film like yours and $50 (plus taxes) for feature length film. Here you can get the reviews, consultation, notes and comments, a congratulatory/recommendation letter and if you need, a Skype session with me for one-to-one interaction. All included in the same charges and no additional charges need to be payed. I am charging less than others because I am establishing my business after completing my internship and working as freelance reader-consultant; no compromise on the quality of work. So you can say its a promotional offer. And yes, welcome to the business and congratulations on turning your story into a screenplay!

How did you earn did you get produced ? I am also a script writer and I have paid to get my script developed people are interested but still I never got anything substantial

I would devote a little bit of the money to pamper myself, whatever that means for you. Whether getting a facial, buying that special pair of shoes, having a girls' night out, taking a short trip...etc. And Yes, invest part of the money in your professional growth, and do not forget to include all the expenses involved in "working across the globe" in your next tax return (consult with an accountant). I was told that even if you go to New York to receive a cash award you can deduct the business portion of that trip. Much success!!!

I imagine you still live in Mumbai, right? If so, ask a good lawyer whom you trust for a referral. In my case, I have a local entertainment lawyer from Chicago,so I have not connected with Hollywood professionals. And so far, even when he is more focused in the music business right now, he has given me the best advice when I needed it. Best.
