Depends where you are in the States really. I'm from upstate NY, but am currently in London (and spent an academic year in Leeds). Where I'm from in the States is so far away from a major city (I'm 5.5 hours from NYC) or populated area that it's so much harder to network/find work/find people to help! At least in the UK you're always relatively close to a decent sized population! Still, I think it's cheaper to get things done in the States from what I've experienced.

Yeah I can see getting "lost" in the wilderness being a little easier. But how is the atmosphere and filmmaking networking in big cities like NYC?
