Not too long ago my lecturer planted an incredible idea in my mind. "If you can not explain the entire plot of your movie in three sentences then you don't know what you're doing." I took this so seriously i even started describing the core idea in movie plots I'd seen using three sentences. Let's all try writing out plots of movies we've seen, or are trying to make. Just to exercise the creative muscle.

That is what is referred to as an elevator-blurb. That is how a log-line should read. intro-1st senetence mid or meat-2nd sentence conlusion-3rd sentence. Boy meets girl. Boy loses girl. Boy gets girl back.-the end

Boy "gets" girl. or Girl gets boy, Boy gets girl, both get arrested for prostitution. or Boy meets girl, Girls turns out to be vampire. Girl "gets' Boy. or Boy meets Girl. Earth is attacked by aliens. Girl and Boy save the planet. or Aliens invade Earth. Aliens abduct Boy. Girl saves Boy, both save the world.... ;)

Conclusion - There are only really seven different stories?
not really, cause then you can mix it all up and avoid putting "Boy meets Girl" in the exposition and put it in the resolution. {Boy is lonely and frustrated. Goes on a global rampage. Boy meets Girl.}
or, you could just go all bananas. {Boy meets Girl1- falls in love. Boy loses memory in tragic accident and later gets married to Girl2. Boy remembers Girl1.} {Girl meets Girl. Girl becomes Boy. Girl :O!!!}
