About Laura

Laura is a biologist, turned stay-at-home mom, turned health and life coach, turned screenwriter and script editor (whew!) who lives in a rural, bucolic setting in Ontario, Canada—the perfect place to inspire love stories…with a comedic twist! Her first-ever feature screenplay has garnered the attention of industry professionals and placed in multiple screenplay competitions, including Quarterfinalist (top 500) in the 2023 ScreenCraft Comedy Competition, Semifinalist (top 100) in the 2023 Filmatic (Season 8) Comedy Screenplay Awards, and Finalist (top 10) in the 2024 Stage 32 3rd Annual Romantic Comedy Screenplay Competition. Laura has spent over thirteen years (that’s over a hundred-thousand hours!) writing loving comedy scripts (for both film and television), honing her craft, and developing her scripts under the mentorship of Thom Vernon () as well as other leading independent producers. She concurrently edits scripts for her fellow deep-in-the-trenches writers, helping to propel their work into the industry spotlight. Along with a prolific publication record in her other writing gigs, Laura is particularly passionate about bringing a women’s authentic heart into the storytelling space.
