About John

Having survived cancer 38 years ago, John W.Pattison lives with the legacy of his treatment; health related illness due to the salubrious chemotherapy that extended his life. Taking flexible retirement last year (2012) as a consequence of respiratory and hormone problems Pattison turned to music (not for the first time) for his motivation. He named himself ‘The Weird Noise Master’ for the style of production he has developed, a style termed ‘Space Ambience’ and which includes a track called ‘Ten Seconds’, representing the first ten seconds of a cancer diagnosis.
During his four year fight with cancer ‘The Weird Noise Master’ found a direction and inspiration in the sound of legendary space rockers, Hawkwind. In 1977 his parents were told that he would not survive the disease as repeated treatments failed to halt the advance of an aggressive malignancy. But survive he did and eight years after his recovery his only daughter was diagnosed with terminal leukaemia. Subsequently he retrained to become a cancer nurse specialist caring for individuals with the same cancer suffered by both him and his daughter. He went on to offer others hope and inspiration through his ‘A Love Affair with Cancer’ .uk. He has both roadied with Hawkwind and performed on stage with the band at Donnington in 2007.
