Gorkem Sifael is a Turkish writer and director based in Dubai, UAE. Formerly an industrial engineer, he transitioned into the film and television industry, working his way through camera and editorial departments on commercial and broadcast media sets. He made his directorial debut with the independent documentary series 'Welsh in Dubai,' which was later acquired by BBC Three. Subsequently, he developed the 'Meet the Locals' documentary series for Euronews, directing 29 episodes over three seasons that have been broadcast in 160 countries and in 17 languages.
In 2023, one of Gorkem's narrative feature-length scripts was selected for Image Nation's Writers' Lab. In 2024, the same project was chosen for 'Produire au Sud,' organized by the French Institute. In this program, Gorkem has been mentored by Oscar-winning writer Joelle Touma and Cannes-nominated writer Jamal Belmahi.
