About Jodi

My name is Jodi Jackson and I am a publicist here in Hollywood. Having been born and raised here, this is truly my town. Jodi Jackson was in and around the entertainment industry from a very young age. Jodi’s father, Philip Jackson, owned a beauty salon in Beverly Hills. On any given day Jodi would see the likes of; Lana Turner, Judy Garland, Rosalind Russell, Rita Hayworth, Zsa Zia Gabor, and all Hollywood royalty. They would come to The Betty Jackson Salon as overflow from the studios to get ready for their glamorous films. They would pinch Jodi’s cheeks and she would run and hide behind the hair dryers. When Jodi was thirteen she was asked by one of her drama classmates to work on both the Jerry Lewis Muscular dystrophy Telethon and The Cerebral Palsy Telethon, with Paul Anka. She ran many errands for the show and made sure the 100’s of guests were well taken care of. Part AD, part PA, Jodi got the job done. She found both jobs so rewarding and was hooked. After high school she went up to San Francisco, to be closer to her father who lived up there. She attended The Academy of Art College and got a Bachelor of Interior Design, with a minor in Theater. She worked at a couple of prestigious Interior Design/ Architectural firms until she realized she wanted to have her designs on the big screen. While up there Jodi worked on the George Lucas movie “Howard the Duck” and then sought-after bigger fish back in Los Angeles. Upon arrival in Los Angeles, Jodi landed a Production Designer gig with Magic Hours Productions, where she worked on three different films. She was the secretary at The Set Decorators Society of America in Los Angeles. That was the job that got her foot in the door in Hollywood. She worked at Sandy Rose Floral designs, which did all of the flowers for many of the top soap operas. Jodi was then hired by F. Gary Gray to be the production designer on the music video Natural Born Killers, with Dr. Dre, Snoop Dog, and Ice Cube. During this time Jodi also did some award shows as a production assistant; The American Music Awards, The Grammys, The Ace Awards. She then got hired on two TV shows, Disney’s, The Crusaders, and Brillstein Grey’s short-lived traveling music show. Around that time, she was in talks with Studio Instrument Rental to be the manager of their new rehearsal space at The Old Directors guild on Sunset. She took the job and had some amazing clients and event experiences: The Beach Boys, Madonna, The Cars, night club promoters, play rehearsals, and many other Hollywood events. From there she worked at Priority Records in the Radio Promotion Department, The Eagles Record Label – Mission Records, where she was VP of A&R, and VP of Publicity. Jodi also worked at Red Ant Records before it closed and LPJ records as well. By using indie Publicity firms, Jodi began her relationship with CBG, The Courtney Barnes Group, where she worked off and on for eleven years. Her mentor, Courtney Barnes, taught her everything she knows about publicity in this very competitive global market. After CBG, Jodi started her PR Firm, JJ Entertainment, and has worked with many notable artists including, reality stars, actors, recording artists, fine artists, and restaurants. Jodi is a force to be reckoned with and her many talents creatively are what every artist needs to be turned into a household name. She has had up to three Grammy Nominees every year for the last ten years, with some wins and some losses. JJ Entertainment has gone through much professional resurgence but always keeps up with a new modern model of how to make an artist famous. She has no room for failure, which has been proven by her many satisfied clients. With a fantastic reputation and an abundance of creatively she perseveres in a world that continues to grow. JJ Entertainment is an iconic player in the world of publicity machines.

“I am just in the business of helping people, being of service, that is what gives me joy.” Jodi Jackson

Today Jodi is taking on publicity projects large and small, manages her ever-popular website and brand Jodi Jackson’s Hollywood, makes her handcrafted jewelry, JJ Designs Jewelry, and is writing a screenplay about her Father and growing up in Los Angeles, recounting her glamorous Hollywood life.
