About Barry

I’m a former television journalist with a major Canadian network and have been writing professionally (in print, radio, and TV) since my teens. I've covered crime, breaking news, politics, high tech, amateur and professional sports, and just about every subject under the sun. I became something of a specialist in covering forest fires and estimate I've covered more than 200 (major) wildfires. My news career gave me me a lot of life experiences I can draw from while writing fiction. I also spent some time in government and corporate communications.

I’ve had several Y/A novels released by a traditional publisher. I’ve optioned two scripts to a small independent film studio, without benefit of an agent. I now have the time to get serious about writing and marketing scripts and I'm primarily interested in finding free beta readers I can swap scripts with. I’ve done a lot of beta reading for new and established novelists, but would like to do something similar for screenwriters. I read and critique one of your scripts (for free) and you do the same for me.

I also work as a background actor in movies, get the occasional line, and do some voiceover work.
