About Marek

Marek Losey is best known for his taut, psychological thriller, THE HIDE. A micro-budget feature that received excellent critical acclaim with comparisons to the original SLEUTH. His two-hander collected nominations at The Evening Standard Film Awards, The British Independent Film Awards and The Writer’s Guild. Accolades followed with a further six nominations and seven awards internationally.

Marek’s most recent work has been in primetime television dramas. His YA sci-fi show, SILVERPOINT, for Hulu, earned him BAFTA and Royal Television nominations. His BBC YA show, A KIND OF SPARK, created by and starring neurodivergent actors, received huge critical acclaim, winning in 2024 two Royal Television Awards, a Broadcast Award and receiving nominations at the Emmys, the Rockie Awards, Rose d’Or. Marek’s passion for genre work has led him to direct fantasy, sci-fi, action and thrillers including, BEOWULF, Stan Lee’s super hero creation, LUCKY MAN, two features for the Emmy-winning fantasy show, FREE REIN. From YA to adult, his focus on performance has seen collaborations with Brenda Blethyn, Matthew Goode, Luke Treadaway, Gemma Jones, John Hurt and Joanne Whalley for studios NETFLIX, UNIVERSAL, ITV STUDIOS, HULU, PBS, BYU TV and the BBC, to name a few.

Starting his career in the film industry as a runner at age 16, he went on to direct numerous award-winning advertising campaigns for many of the world’s best known brands. British born to American parents, he is the grandson of blacklisted Hollywood director, Joseph Losey, and the son of producer, Gavrik Losey. Marek is currently casting ANGEL’S FIGHT, the dystopian, action feature he has co written.
