I am a writer (comedy and drama ) who would like to collaborate with directors to adapt some of my own stories and create original work. I'm interested in Jewish topics, women's stories, sexuality, politics and history. I like satire and humor; Fleabag, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Deadwood, Six Feet Under, Carnivale, The Sopranos are all favorites.
I am a playwright, monologuist in the tradition of Spalding Grey and Sandra Bernhard, a performance artist who loves Sophie Callie's work.
For the Future of Girls, my most recent poetry book, has a beautiful cover and some award-winning poems. It was nominated for the Eric Hoffer Independent Book Award in 2024.
I'm the author of Yiddish Yoga: Ruthie's Adventures of Love, Loss and the Lotus Position (Harper Collins), an illustrated humor book about a Bubbe who kvetches and stretches through yoga after her husband dies. At one point, Tova Feldshuh was interested in the rights to this book and adapting it as a one-woman show.
My play ALMOST PREGNANT, (NEXT STAGE PRESS) is about infertility and assisted reproductive technologies and motherhood. Had a profitable and well-reviewed run at the Philadelphia Fringe Festival.
My 25 minute one-act play, "Alexa Talks to Rebecca" won the Audience Choice Award at the Squeaky Bicycle Theatre in Manhattan. I would love to adapt this as a film. It addresses loneliness as a public health crisis, grief, the Holocaust, and older women's sexuality. Award-winning actress Cynthia Mace starred in our production.
When I'm not writing, I'm a soccer mom, a college Professor who teaches English, Creative Writing, Religious Studies and Playwrighting at Temple University in Philadelphia. I also teach Yoga at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine and in private studios.
The Jewish Literary Journal published “Strangers and Kin,” excerpted from my memoir in progress: Me and My Makers: A Memoir of Adoption, Genes and Love.
