About Dan

Dan Lima– Screenwriter

I write because I can’t not write. Stories are how I make sense of the world—how I pull apart its edges and see what’s underneath. My work leans toward psychological thrillers, horror, and dark, intricate dramas, the kind of stories that stay with you, that twist something inside you before you even realize it’s happening. I love narratives that play with identity, perception, and the thin, often dangerous line between morality and obsession.

I take inspiration from filmmakers like M. Night Shyamalan, Christopher Nolan, and David Fincher—directors who know how to grip an audience and never let go. I admire the mind-bending depth of Charlie Kaufman, the sharp, relentless dialogue of Aaron Sorkin, and the way a well-constructed script can turn even the simplest premise into something unforgettable. Movies like Se7en, The Number 23, The Prestige, Oldboy, The Sixth Sense, Prisoners, Mulholland Drive, and The Others have shaped how I see storytelling—how tension, mystery, and the unexpected can redefine an entire narrative.

I’m obsessed with structure, but I also love breaking it apart. The hero’s journey? Sure, but I’m more interested in the antihero, the false protagonist, the multiplot that pulls everything together in the last possible moment. I write scripts that demand attention—not just from an audience, but from the industry. Stories that don’t just fit into a genre, but push it somewhere new.
