About Martez

Martéz Saporta-Rothuysen, director of MMM – a multi management agency, Abaka Amara Productions, and The Z Creative, has worked in front of and behind the camera for over three decades.

Martéz holds a gold medal, with merit, from the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts (LAMDA). One of the LAMDA theatre pieces was performed as part of ACT's showcase at On Broadway, Cape Town.

Acting has always been Martéz' passion. At the age of 14, being the youngest actor, she starred in a two man play for Gilbert and Sullivan at The Ford Little Theatre, which received rave reviews in the Port Elizabeth newspapers.

Martéz produced a promotional teaser titled DANCING WITH FAITH, that is being made into a Docudrama Series, now titled, THE CHOICE, and based on the book of the same title, written by Elizabeth Robertson Campbell. The Dancing with Faith promotional teaser garnered an Award of Recognition at the LA-based Best Shorts festival in 2017.
That same year, IMAGINE, a fashion film conceptualised by her then twelve-year-old-daughter, Zoryn, co-written by the mother and daughter duo; and produced and directed by Martéz, raked in 7 wins and 4 honourable mentions both locally and abroad.
Following the success of Imagine, Martéz wrote and produced LOVE AFFAIR, another fashion film, that made Official Selection at the Bokeh South African International Fashion Film Festival and was the opening film at the Awards Evening. Love Affair made Official Selection at the New York Film Awards and went on to win Best Song at Top Shorts.
In 2021, Martéz stepped out of her comfort zone as director for the filmed “Jerusalem Woven Destiny Concert” with musicians such as ZAMAR, Choni G, Lyudamila, and more. The recording was broadcast to an online audience of 20 000. The recording was later aired on Revelation TV in February 2022.
Martéz, along with Sam Pegg and Michelle Benas Jansen, began ModelAct, an ongoing virtual as well as in-person multiple module workshop that encompasses modelling, acting, confidence-building and highlighting the business aspect to fashion and film careers. Their acting module was presented at UCT, receiving a very positive response, and requests to present more in future.

Having worked as international model, actress, voice-over artist, mentor and talent coach to both models and actors when working as talent coach for ACT Cape Town and more recently through ModelAct, Martéz has many years of experience to bring value and understanding to scenes, character development and how best to serve a project whether she is managing, acting, presenting, directing, or producing.
