I recently relocated from Colorado to the East Coast, so I've been getting bearings around this new film environment. I'm currently working two internships on the East Coast, one at a production company in NYC that does film, commercials, music videos, and theater, and the other at a small television production company in NJ. I've also picked up some part-time bartending to pick up some extra cash while working on a few personal projects. I'm currently writing daily to build up my body of work (I'm working on a pilot, a feature, and a short at the moment) I have the yearly goal of having a short to produce with a couple of other filmmakers in the area around late-Fall and a few vetted screenplays to submit to contests and pitch here. The yearly goal is to have a body of work that is in the same voice/similar genres that have all been vetted by the contacts I have. Additionally, I'll be assisting a director on a short film in late June so that will be a great and insightful experience into planning and directing a short film. Additionally, I'd like to have some kind of full-time employment come Fall. The money and work is very constant and okay right now, but will likely end by the summer. Here's hoping my networking and new work experience lead to new work to learn from. Cheers to the process.
