I've been involved in theatre in the Bay Area since 2003. It is my creative outlet because I work full time as a Certified Massage Therapist. Most of my work is with community theatres, all volunteer. I prefer to perform onstage especially plays and with musicals, I can sing and dance but not strong enough to be a "threat". I realized later on that singing solo in musicals is not my strongest trait. My voice and style suits better as a jazz/ standard vocalist. I am however, a strong ensemble singer especially when doing harmonies.
The San Francisco Bay Area has a lot of different theatre companies from college, community and regional to professional. I have considered to join Actors Equity but I am not ready to do that yet. I never had any formal training in acting. I learn from experience and the stage is my classroom. Many of my actor friends are encouraging me to do film. I'm slowly trying to do that and checking out the Jobs section of Stage 32 helps a lot.
