About Anne

Let's get this straight right from the start; I am from Adelaide, South Australia and for those of you who don’t know, it’s known in Aus as the 'City of Churches’…and serial killers.

This combination makes for fertile artist's mulch, so it’s no surprise that my professional stage debut was as a crazed vampire in my one-woman show Fatal Woman, which I concocted for the Adelaide Fringe Festival. This entailed drinking the blood of a rat each evening, whilst attempting to dismember an audience member or two.

Cut to some years later and I am on a farm on the other side of the world beating a man to death with a shovel, on the short film Pigs & Courgettes - now you see the relevance of the serial killer thing.

In between the rat and the pigs, I grabbed a mic and tore it up with a few heavy rock bands, none of which you've heard of, so don't ask. I also went through a period of writing short stories and yes, a number of them were about killing and one even got short-listed!

However, it’s not all been about death and destruction and since moving to the UK I have uncovered a softer side, playing a number of nurses of varying guises; including a mental health worker in the award winning indie feature, Selective Listening and more recently, running a care home in the short film, Softly, Softly, Catchy Monkey. I suppose I enjoy exploring the dynamic of kindness and cruelty; churches and serial killers.

A self-confessed lover of learning stuff, when I’m not working, I am in scene class at AMAW London. I also learn the harmonica, which gives me oodles of joy and I hit the yoga mat every morning, to prevent me from shrivelling up when I'm eighty. My sneaky pleasure is discovering new ‘woo-woo’ energy healing techniques.
