About David

I'm an Australian writer/editor and facilitator of writing workshops. I've written two films under contract for an Australian producer and this year am completing a screenplay about violence in the hearts of all men, and another film on perhaps the least popular subject known to man. Does this give me a working perversity? Dunno! I've run workshops for two decades, I was a television journalist for three decades; I wrote a $4.2million Aussie film no-one saw in SHOTGUN WEDDING and the script gave me street cred here in Sydney, but that was in the early nineties. I've studied acting to become a better writer and I've produced, written and directed two short films recently but won't be making any more until I get the budget in place. Making movies with favours doesn't work for me. I'm about to bite the bullet and become my own producer or at least find someone I trust and whose creativity I can share. I'm about to play a priest in a low budget movie so watch out for the agnostic priest. I love what I do and am happy to share my working knowledge.

Unique traits: My son Harry tells me I take any bad joke far beyond its limits. I do have an irreverence and a love of ideas. If it turns out there really is a hell then it may be a little hot but it'll be somewhere to meet like minds. My current passion is fasting because it helps me see inside beyond my personal glutton in ways I rarely have. My personality demands all or nothing and grey is my least favourite colour. I have no tolerance for intolerance and am deeply prejudiced against hatred and greed and environmental destruction. I prefer to think of myself as spiritual rather than religious and tend to peer beyond notions of post apocalyptic scenarios into a world that has got its shit together and can cope with good and evil as nature copes with nature. I could obviously rave further but this will do for now.
