About Patricia

Patricia Shanks

is a voice and piano teacher, former professional opera chorister, Emmy® Award-winning writer, creativity coach and on-air talent.

For more than 35 years Patricia has coached musicians and others, helping them to discover their best technical and artistic capabilities. She brings to her work a diverse background in the arts as a performer, teacher, writer and in non-profit management.

Patricia has held the positions of Ventura County Symphony executive director and outreach program coordinator /dir. of volunteers for the Los Angeles Da Camera Society. She has served on boards and committees for Directors of Volunteers in Agencies Los Angeles, Beach Cities Symphony, OC/LA Chapter of Media Communications Assn Int’l, Orange County Multimedia Assn, a branch of the Music Teachers Assn of California, and the LA Branch of the National Assn of Teachers of Singing. She is currently on the board of the Media Alliance of Orange County (MAOC).

Patricia holds the title Ms. Newport Beach Ambassador 2014 and she is Newport Beach Music Examiner for . She is a former Los Angeles Daily News arts and entertainment columnist and recipient of a 2010 Emmy® Award for writing. She has been an arts and entertainment TV news show host and producer and an NPR affiliate station radio host.

Patricia teaches voice and piano at her Newport Beach Studio. She has taught classroom voice and voice-over for the Orange County School of the Arts, and she has taught for the Gold Coast Theater Conservatory, the Crestmont Conservatory of Music and for the Conservatory at CSU, Dominguez Hills.

As a professional chorister and member of the American Guild of Musical Artists, Patricia has performed with Los Angeles Master Chorale, Los Angeles Music Center Opera Assoc. and Opera Pacific. She is a former staff soloist for the Crystal Cathedral Hour of Power televised choir. Patricia is SAG-AFTRA.
