About Alan

I grew up in Manhattan but spent 6 years in Boise, Idaho before returning to Manhattan. By that time I was bitten by two bugs ; One good and one bad. The good one was the acting bug which once bitten never gets out of one's blood. I was exposed to Bway at a very young age and determined at 14 that's what I wanted to do. Back in Manhattan, I finished high school and then studied with Sanford Meisner and Charles Conrad. I acted in summer stock until I was 20, when the bad bug caught up with me. That bug was a mosquito that bit a horse and then bit me. I end up with equine encephephelitis that warped into Narcolepsy and caught up with me onstage at a presitigeous theatre. I spent the next 10 years trying to make it in the business end of theatre. I gave in after Lorraine Hansberry's "Sign in Sydney Brustein's Window" got very respectful but non commercial reviews on Bway. I was production associate and assistant company manager. After years in a civilian job I retired and found a new medicine that allows me to function well enough to go back to my first love. This time I opted for film. I love the stage but film has a flexibility the theatre doesn't offer. 8 years ago I went to LA and spent 2 years doing a lot of extra work and found short films. I acted in two and then relocated to South Florida where I have done quite a few more. I joined BRIFT and am now a member of Burt Reynolds' master class. BRIFT is like a family of very talented actors mentored by Mr. Reynolds, supported by some excellent professionals. I love what I do and having been kept from it for so many years, I intend to die with my boots on and a camera rolling. Real method acting.Sorry, I'm a bit verbose.
