About Taras

Experienced Director of Photography from Moscow, Russia with over 25 years of experience in the broadcast industry and specializing in shooting for documentary, current affairs reports, lifestyle, sport and corporate television.

I was trained in Media Communications and Technologies at college and began working in TV and film industry at the age of 20. This has given me an excellent background which has been built upon over the years working with a large number of DP's and Directors.

Shot for TV, commercials, corporate and film productions as well as for web, across a wide range of formats, using a wide range of cameras. Own KIT: Sony FX6/FX3, including prime lenses, base lighting, grip, audio and editing gear. I have access to any other format and has experience in shooting with the majority of other camera systems, including SONY XDCAM HD, PANASONIC P2HD/VARICAM, CANON CINEMA EOS, RED DRAGON 6K, GoPro/DJI experience. I'm happy to work with any required model of camera or type of format.

I'm accredited by the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs which grants me the right to work with foreign media here in Russia. Speak English and Russian. I can provide a full crew depends of request: English speaking producer, sound mixer, production assistant, van driver. Our service also available in Georgia, Armenia and Uzbekistan.

    Documentary by Films by Jove/USA Director of Photography This 90 minute documentary will include film from Oleg Vidov’s most important American and Soviet movies, clips from interviews on more than a dozen Russian talk shows and American programs such as Entertainment Tonight and CNN, as well as interviews filmed in 2018 and 2019 by Vidov’s wife, journalist Joan Borsten Vidov, with his co-stars and directors from numerous countries, the brave Yugoslavs and Austrians who helped Vidov escape from the USSR, and the Americans who helped him make a new life. It will include a nuanced and honest look at the most positive and negative aspects of life in the USSR which, during the 70 years of its existence, turned a mostly illiterate country literate, while attempting to control the thoughts and movements of its people. The production crew is led by Borsten, and includes award-winning feature filmmaker Nadia Tass, award-winning editors Leonard Feinstein and Cory Taylor who also wrote the screenplay. Seth Isler (“It Takes a Lunatic”) is a co-producer and Oscar-winning filmmaker Marianna Yarovskaya is a supervising producer.

Documentary following two young astronauts, ESA Alexander Gerst and NASA astronaut Gregory Reid Wiseman on their first trip to space, on board of the international Space Station (ISS). Follow their training and get on board with them to discover their day to day life above us with exceptional images shot the ISS. I'm a DOP of this video in astronaut's training center in Star City (Russia) and Baikonur cosmodrome (preparation and launch of the space ship). Director: Juergen Hansen, Prospect TV.
