About Carlos

Carlos Berrios is a record producer and re-mixer with a career spanning over two decades. His first release with Profile Records, “Make Noise”, was his initiation to the music industry. In five years he would go on to produce, re-mix, or edit over 120 records for most of the top U.S. record companies, including Def Jam, Columbia Records, Warner Bros., Atlantic Records, Motown, and Polygram. Carlos was fortunate to work with some of the great artists of the time, including Duran Duran, Aerosmith, Samantha Foxx, Nona Hendrix, Grand Master Pooba and producers like Jazzy Jay, Andy “Panda” Tripoli, Mark Kamins, Mantronix and The Latin Rascals.

Carlos then teamed up with songwriter/ choreographer, and future filmmaker Franc. Reyes (Empire, Illegal Tender, The Ministers) to write and produce Lisette Melendez’s debut album, including the ground breaking Billboard Top 40 hit single "Together Forever" for Russell Simmon’s Def Jam Records and Sal Abbatiello’s Fever Records. This record is credited with rejuvenating the pop dance music scene in New York and paved the way for Carlos’ production of Corina's "Temptation" for Atlantic Records. A single that found it's way into Billboard’s Top 10. The only American Latin Freestyle Dance Record ever to do so.
By the mid 90’s Carlos semi-retired from making music and began freelance work editing documentaries that led to work directing and editing music videos. This led to further narrative directing and editing opportunities.

To date, Carlos has edited 28 short films, of which he has also worked as re- recording mixer. He’s directed and edited 6 music videos, and worked as cinematographer on two feature films. In 2009, Carlos wrote, directed, and edited “The Found”, a narrative short film of a larger story that he’s developing. He also edited the theatrical trailer for Franc. Reyes’ feature film, “The Ministers.
This year, Carlos will be directing his first feature film from a Franc. Reyes script under the Alumbra Films banner.
