"I took this book with me on some recent travels after it was recommended to me by a few friends posting on Facebook. This book would qualify as a page turner for others; you could likely sit down twice or three times and finish the whole thing. I happen to be a [very] slow reader, though, so I had the experience of reading the first half of it on my way overseas, and eagerly waiting until the end of my trip so I could read the second half on the flight back.
What kept me thinking about this novel during the interim days were its six richly drawn characters. As I met each of the characters and observed their stories harmonizing, tangling, and colliding, I heard Warady giving voice to some of my own experiences and relationships. I've also felt this way with other contemporary authors like Jonathan Franzen and Junot Diaz—who help me see myself in the people who live in the worlds they write. Warady makes deft work of shining a light on the these characters' inner lives and showing everything in a poignant and honest manner. For me, his success lies in the ways that this particularly telling helped me revisit parts of my own with more humor and deeper compassion.
In many ways, I'm still curious about some of these characters—I wish I would have had more "time" on the page with Chloe and Emily. I was less concerned about some of the other characters like Donald's work colleagues in their adult lives. Still, it's a feat of good character writing that I am fond (and a bit concerned) about these people, and I'm grateful that Warady made the introduction. In the meantime, I am happy to walk away from this book carrying Warady's insights on finding love, finding disappointment, and finding ourselves older and younger in surprising ways."
Sometimes readers say it better than I ever could. Hope this helps.
All the best,
Charley
I have no acting experience. I'm in the Navy and really want to pursue an acting career and modeling but I have no idea where to start. I plan on going to acting school but any advice would be AMAZING. Thank you.
Acting classes should be first on your list. I don't know what the Independent film climate is where you live, but if your willing to work for free - Indie and student films are a great way to hone your chops and build a nice reel in the process.
Thank you everyone for the kind and insightful advice!!! Appreciate it all

The students loved you, as usual. I truly appreciate your willingness to share advice with a group of developmental actors. See you soon at a poker game I hope!

Talent Agents/Managers: Kindly post your comments and share detailed information as to what caused you to no longer want to represent a particular talent. This information will help other talent learn how not to cross their middle man.

Expand commentMy most uncomfortable and distressing case of releasing a talent from my Agency's books was for dishonesty when that talent broke a trust in a business deal not associated with the agency itself. When someone you have admired and respected for years promises a payment and then fails to keep their word, they have lost their integrity and any respect they might have commanded. As someone once said to me: "Integrity is like virginity: you only lose it once and you can never get it back".
Incidentally, no Agency should charge ANYTHING for taking a talent onto their books. At NOVA:The New Orleans Voice Agency, we represent talent on a non-exclusive basis and take commission only for work which we have generated and/or handled on talent behalf.
Here's a blog I recently posted, that shares some insight on this subject. http://blog.castingnetworks.com/3945
