Hi friends, my name is Jon Ferreira and I've started my own acting studio called Mainestage Actors Studio & Talent (MAST) in my home state of Maine.I live in a relatively small town and the area is mostly pretty rural. However, the population is growing and one can sense a city on the verge of exploding with talent. I saw a need in the community, and I'm trying to meet that need with a new outlet and artistic home. So far, I've had only a couple of classes, and far more people hiring me as their private acting coach. Business is unquestionably slow, but it's not surprising, as I'm just beginning to build this studio. As you might guess, I would love to have any of you in my class. I am looking to recruit wherever I can. But this is not the place for self-promotion. Instead, it is a fellowship of artists, committed to their craft, and to each other. I come to you today to ask what kinds of theatre courses/ acting classes are you most interested in taking? What would attract you to my school? Currently, I offer Acting for Beginners I & II, Advanced Acting I & II, Improvisation I & II, Scene Study I & II, Audition Techniques, Shakespeare I & II, and Speech & Articulation. However, I was trained by Kristin Linklater, and could easily teach her method, as well as classes in physical comedy, dialects, styles, dramaturgy, and probably many more. I have three degrees in theatre, and have had extensive training and experience in a wide variety of methods and styles. However, I am mindful of my community and their general lack of experience, and it's more likely that I would not offer more advanced classes at this point. But nonetheless, I am interested in what you are looking for in a class that can feed you spiritually as well as teach you technique. You can also check out my webpage if you'd like to learn more. It's on my profile. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
