I feel like it is a sensitive location, but it is key to my script, practically another character in the story. Someone once told me, if you shoot in a Cemetery where a relative is buried, they can't turn you down because your family "owns property there". Not sure if that is true. Any advice? Tips?!? Thoughts!?! Thank you in Advance!!!
There's more to filming a movie, and I'm glad I'm learning here.
Anytime Rich. Ask away.
building yourself a cemetary could be cheap and convincing with smoke and lights

Just want to shoot and make some moving pictures. Thanks in Advance.
That's really helpful. Thank you for your attention and
Thank you Mr. Peter.
ask an up and coming musician theyll do it for free
Does anyone agree with the notion that a group of filmmakers creating weekly content with the prospect of a zero dollar budget is now absolutely possible?
Amen Peter Fleming. Amen.

Expand comment@Peter Fleming Overthinking this? Maybe, maybe not.... your not some junior high or high school kid fooling around with Dad's video camera.... If a group is creating weekly content there has to be a purpose and an end goal. It has to benefit everybody on the team otherwise it's just one or more people exploiting the time and talents of the rest of the group for their own gain.
Sorry to detour this thread further with my above comment about ethical behavior. It's sadly lacking in this industry.

I produce a modest little cable network show called the Northwest Independent Filmmaker’s Showcase (NIFS) in which I exhibit NW Indie short films and provide the filmmaker the opportunity to introduce his film or not (I’ll do it). Filmmakers spend money to submit their films to festivals – where it may/may not be selected (if not, you don’t get your money back.) The festivals use the films to promote it self – not the filmmakers so much. I offer a television broadcast platform designed to promote filmmakers – all for free – and I can’t find enough films. I try to contact filmmakers – but they don’t return my calls or e-mails. I talk with them at festivals but they don’t follow through. I’m rapidly concluding that I’m wasting my time trying to help people who do not want help. Most of you seem content to produce stealth movies for YouTube. Filmmakers – what do you have to say for yourselves?

Expand commentI appreciate your offer Rachel but I notice that you're down in LA. My show is titled the Northwest Independent Filmmaker's Showcase. The NWIFS presents films and promotes filmmakers throughout the northwest which I define that as Nor CA, OR, WA, BC, AK, ID, UT and we throw in MT & WY. I respectfully must decline your offer. It's sad really – I only have enough short films to make two – maybe three – shows. I can only assume that NW filmmakers are unwilling to promote themselves or are to ashamed of their work to have it displayed on public television. I don't know which and I'm beginning not to care.

For those of you who don’t know Andre; I met him a couple of years back when I discovered his short Bum Rap film somewhere – I don’t recall where. I contacted him and suggested he enter it in the Eugene International Film Festival, he appeared a little reluctant at first but finally entered. He said that he just wanted to make a little “stealth movie.” His little “stealth movie” won first place in its category at EIFS. I urge you all to go find it – YouTube (I think). Andre – plagiarism is one of my stronger suits – but I only steal the best from the best.
If you could only give one tip to a first time director, what would it be?

The words from my vocabulary that I used while expressing certain actions didn't inspire the performance that I wanted, but when I used words that corresponded from a thesaurus, the light turned on in my talents understanding and I got a noticeably improved actions and reactions.
I have particularly efficient advice, do what Robert Rodriquez says to do in his book. We get this situation often where folks whom are not there because they really want to—whom then maybe want to run things.

Expand commentHey Royce, I'm a Nidan in aikido. Good advice. Liam: Story: I would say you're a storyteller first and foremost. Keep it simple: See if you can execute and interesting shot with dynamic blocking with one master, then get some close-ups for coverage sake. Crew: make sure you have a good, working relationship with your DP and editor. And yes, try to avoid doing these things yourself. Maybe on your first go you can get away with it, but after a while, work with a team. Film is a collaborative effort.
